Children's Choir Pays Tribute to Shooting Victims on Saturday Night Live

A day after a gunman shot down 20 children and six adults at a Connecticut elementary school, Saturday Night Live pushed comedy aside to pay tribute to the lives lost.

The New York City Children's Chorus opened Saturday's show with an elegant performance of "Silent Night" (watch below). The song was a departure for the humor-driven show that typically kicks off the night with a punchline.

At the closing of the Christmas classic, the chorus turned back to tradition, shouting out, "Live from New York, it's Saturday Night!"

Seth MacFarlane Parodies Ryan Lochte on Saturday Night Live: 'Feels Weird to Be Dry'

Judging by the five medals around his neck from the London Games, you might say Ryan Lochte had a busy summer.

Or, as he might say, "I was America in Olympics." Well, that was Seth MacFarlane's take on the swimmer during a Weekend Update skit on SNL's 38th-season premiere Saturday. Watch below.

MacFarlane, channeling the swimmer, gave anchor Seth Meyers his take on the fall TV season. On his must-see list: "Monkey Hospital," he says, "It's not fair – they give all the best lines to the monkey." Of course, he's referring to NBC's Animal Practice. His verdict? "Three swims."

Kristen Wiig's Teary Saturday Night Live 'Graduation'

Originally posted 05/20/2012 01:10PM

For once, Saturday Night Live didn't go for laughs, instead ending its season with tears and hugs Saturday night.

In a surprise – and surprisingly emotional – send-off, cast members appeared to bid goodbye to key player Kristen Wiig. The Bridesmaids star's departure has long been rumored, but has yet to be confirmed by NBC.

Still, the farewell sentiment seemed clear: After host Mick Jagger introduced a class of "graduates," Wiig took the stage. Then one by one, her SNL costars joined her, each for a brief dance while musical guest Arcade Fire serenaded her with "She's a Rainbow" and "Ruby Tuesday."

Last to take a tearful Wiig for a spin: her boss, SNL producer Lorne Michaels.

Kristen Wiig Plays 'Tanning Mom' on SNL

"Tanning Mom" Patricia Krentcil has now officially had her moment in the sun: She's been lampooned on Saturday Night Live.

The joking around took place during the Weekend Update with Seth Meyers, when, in a trail of smoke, Kristen Wiig showed up at the news desk looking like Krentcil, the New Jersey mom who's pleaded not guilty to bringing her 6-year-old daughter into a tanning bed with her.

Expanding upon the real Krentcil's remarks to a reporter this week that critics of her look are "jealous," "fat" and "ugly," Wiig said, "Though I can't blame them for being jealous. I am alluring in a way they will never be."
