On June 15, Anderson, Ind., police responded to a call that indicated that Amber Portwood was depressed and threatening to end her life. Ultimately, the Teen Mom star was transported to a local medical facility, where she has been receiving treatment.
While the reality TV personality has yet to comment on events of that day, Portwood, 21, did open up to PEOPLE last summer about her struggle with bipolar disorder – a condition characterized by dramatic shifts in mood.
“I take medication,” she said at the time. "I haven't [taken] anything today. Am I acting crazy? This is me though, and I like it."

The girls are back in town, and life isn't getting any easier.
The original cast of MTV's Teen Mom – Amber, Catelynn, Farrah and Maci – returns for the show's third season. And judging by the new trailer, it will indeed be "their toughest year yet."
Custody battles, calls to the police, shouting matches and, of course, the joy and pain of raising children they didn't plan for – it's all part of everyday life for these four young women.
The new season of Teen Mom premieres July 5 (10 p.m. ET) on MTV.

Father knows best?
On Tuesday's episode of Teen Mom 2, Cheslea's dad pays a visit to his daughter's new place after hearing "rumors" that she's back together with her ex, Adam, the father of daughter Aubree.
"Why on God's green earth would you get back with him?" her dad asks.
"Obviously because he seems different," says Chelsea, who insists he's a good father to their daughter.

Just a week into the series, things are about to get deeply emotional on Teen Mom 2.
On Tuesday night's episode of the MTV reality show, Leah takes one of her twins, Aliannah, to the doctor to find out why she's developing at a slower rate than sister Aleeah.
The news isn't good, as the doctor immediately notices something is wrong and orders an MRI of Aliannah's spine – leaving Leah to make a difficult phone call to ex-boyfriend Corey, who is the twins' father.

A day after she was put behind bars at the Madison County jail in Anderson, Ind., for slapping and choking her ex-fiancé, Teen Mom star Amber Portwood is a free woman.
The reality TV star was released from the jail Tuesday afternoon, a source at the jail tells PEOPLE. The court automatically entered a not guilty plea for Portwood before she was released, according to her lawyer.
On Monday, Portwood began a 24-hour hold stemming from criminal charges filed against her earlier in the day for a physical altercation she had with her ex, Gary Shirley, with whom she has a 2-year-old daughter, Leah.
Portwood, 20, was charged with three felonies, including two counts of domestic battery and one count of neglect of a dependent. She was also charged with one misdemeanor charge of domestic battery.
In July, Portwood told PEOPLE that that fight, which was captured by MTV cameras, was difficult for her to watch when it aired.
