Originally posted 04/05/2012 01:00PM
New friendships? Well, really more like new rivalries!
Aviva Drescher, Carole Radziwill and Heather Thomson will join the Real Housewives of New York City when the reality series returns for its fifth season (June 4, 9 p.m.) – and judging from an early preview (watch the clip below), they aren't mixing so well with veteran Housewives LuAnn de Lesseps, Sonja Morgan and Ramona Singer, who have come back for even more drama this year. (The show's season premiere will be 90-minutes to accommodate it all!)
But not all feuds are new: In a three-minute teaser for the season, Countess LuAnn calls out Ramona for blackmailing her and, later, tangles even more with Sonja and Ramona on vacation.

"I'm not angry," she told PEOPLE. "I had a great opportunity. I mean, three years! Three years I'm on television. ... The show is on all over the world and we're still going to be on for a long time. It's like the Baywatch of Housewives. For me, it's just the gift that keeps on giving."
Speaking at a QVC charity event in New York City to benefit breast cancer research, Bensimon called her stint on Real Housewives a "huge leap of faith" and said she looks forward to watching upcoming seasons of the Bravo hit.

Real Housewives of New York City: Are These Women the New Stars?
Originally posted 09/21/2011 01:15PM
Jill Zarin, Alex McCord, Kelly Bensimon and Cindy Barshop are out – but who are the brave new stars of The Real Housewives of New York City that will join Ramona Singer, Sonja Morgan and LuAnn DeLesseps in upcoming seasons of Bravo's hit show?
A source close to the show tells PEOPLE that New York City is in need of "new energy," and heard that the new cast will include a woman in the fashion business, a philanthropist with three children and a writer.
Well, a report in New York's Daily News names three women who fit that bill.
Best-selling author and former ABC News producer Carole Radziwill, whose late husband's aunt was Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, is joining the reality show, according to the report. Radziwill was friends with Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, who died alongside her husband John F. Kennedy Jr., when his plane crashed in 1999.

Bravo is remaining mum on the reports that three of the Real Housewives of New York City are set to be fired, but a source tells PEOPLE that only Ramona Singer, LuAnn de Lesseps and Sonja Morgan are close to signing their 5th season contracts.
Alleged pink-slip recipients Jill Zarin, Alex McCord and Kelly Bensimon, meanwhile, are chiming in on social media.
Zarin – who told PEOPLE last month, "I don't know if I can film with these girls," after feuding with fellow cast member Ramona Singer – Tweeted Friday: "I plan on discussing my future in my next newsletter. Sign up jillzarin.com. I love you for caring so much."
McCord, who was involved in a public dust-up with costar Sonja Morgan at a Marriage Equality event last season, addressed rumors of her departure on her Facebook and Twitter pages, saying "Nothing's finalized, though I'd like to do another year."

Kelly Bensimon Addresses 'Crazy' Rumors – in a Bikini
Originally posted 08/17/2011 08:30AM
Kelly Bensimon is setting the record straight about her sometimes outrageous behavior on The Real Housewives of New York City.
After Bensimon, 43, had her now-infamous meltdown during a cast trip to St. John's, "people called me crazy," she admits in the September issue of Shape magazine."But what they saw was me reacting – in an honest way – to a situation that wasn't honest. Then everyone ganged up on me. So, of course I looked crazy!"
Bensimon was so distraught by the backlash from her erratic behavior on the show that she almost didn't return for the fourth season. It was her daughters, Sea, 13, and Teddy, 11, who convinced her to let the public know who she really is.
