Raven-Symoné Says Fired Univision Host Wasn't Racist: 'Some People Look Like Animals' (VIDEO)

Originally posted 03/18/2015 12:05PM

Raven-Symoné did not have a friend in Rosie Perez when she appeared as a guest cohost on The View on Monday.

While discussing Univision host Rodner Figueroa, who was fired last week for saying Michelle Obama "looks like she's from the cast of Planet of the Apes," the recurring Empire star, 29, jumped to his defense. "Was he saying it racist-like?" she asked. "Because he said that he voted for her later, and I don't think he was saying it racist."

An incredulous Perez, 50, likened Figueroa's claim that he voted for President Barack Obama to those who say they can't be racist because they "have black friends."

Originally posted 03/12/2015 06:25PM

[YOUTUBE "v5InGoSQ9ww"] Madonna recently admitted to a surprising, long-hidden romance with Tupac Shakur, but it's Rosie Perez who has the inside scoop: She set them up!

The View host told her fellow panelists Thursday that it all started at the 1993 Soul Train Awards, when Perez got stood up and Shakur offered to be her date for the ceremony.

Even though, Perez, now 50, said every woman in the room was jealous – and some even wanted to beat her up for being with the late rapper – one woman in particular caught Shakur's eye.

Originally posted 02/19/2015 02:35PM

[BRIGHTCOVE "4069860713001" "" "" "auto"] Elisabeth Hasselbeck admittedly hasn't been keeping up with the ongoing drama at The View, and for good reason: She never plans to return.

On Tuesday's upcoming episode of the Rachael Ray Show, Ray brings up the "revolving table" at Hasselbeck's former gig and asks, "Would you ever go sit in the seat for, you know, a few days?"

"No. I've done my time. I did my time, I was outta there," says Hasselbeck, 37, of her 2013 move to Fox News.

All About Rosie O'Donnell's Last Day on The View: 'It's Been Really Fun' (VIDEO)

Originally posted 02/12/2015 12:40PM

Rosie O'Donnell announced Friday that she'd be leaving her spot at the View roundtable. Just one week later, her final show arrived.

This is the second time O'Donnell has decided to leave The View; however, this time, she received a proper send-off.

For her last show Thursday, O'Donnell, 52, hit the View stage in good spirits, even doing a little dance and "drop[ping] it like it's hot," as co-host Rosie Perez put it. (Who knew she had it in her?) The comedian's cheerful mood was even reflected in the sunny yellow blazer she chose to wear.

Rosie O'Donnell: Leaving The View Was Doctor's Orders

Originally posted 02/08/2015 09:55AM

For Rosie O'Donnell, leaving The View was just what the doctor ordered.

The comedian suffered a near fatal heart attack in 2012 and has kept a firm eye on her health ever since. "My doctors were noticing that there was an uptick in my numbers since I started on the show," the co-host of ABC's The View told PEOPLE while premiering her new documentary Rosie O'Donnell: A Heartfelt Standup at the Athena Film Festival in New York on Saturday.

"It got a little bit worse right before the holidays, and my doctor was kind of concerned, so when I went back after the holiday break, she said to me, 'You know, the stress level is too much,' " said O'Donnell, 52.

At that point, O'Donnell realized she had to eliminate whatever stress she could. "I've had a lot going on in my personal life that's been very stressful. I have five kids, four of them teenagers, that's a lot of my attention," not to mention, the problems within her marriage to Michelle Rounds. "You know, Michelle and I are going through some hard stuff, and I can't really fix those things right away, but I can fix this," O'Donnell said.

After only six months back in the hot seat, Rosie O'Donnell has decided to leave The View.

PEOPLE has confirmed that the 52-year-old host/comedian – who returned for the show's 18th season to help fill a big hole left by the retiring Barbara Walters – said through her publicist Friday that she's putting her "family and health first" after a split from her wife Michelle Rounds in November.

"This has been a very stressful situation," according to a statement from O'Donnell's publicist. "She is putting her personal health and family first. ABC has been wonderfully understanding and supportive of her personal decision to leave The View. Next week will be her last."
