Originally posted 04/11/2012 12:15PM

The hottest topic on Wednesday's live episode of The View was its co-host Sherri Shepherd's shocking elimination on Tuesday night's Dancing with the Stars.

Wiping away tears that started flowing long into the standing ovation from the studio audience and their shouts of "Sherri! Sherri!," Shepherd listened as View moderator Whoopi Goldberg said, "You know, we are not happy ... she was robbed."

Shepherd explained that the waterworks were "not a temper tantrum, [but] really tears of joy. I wanted to do this for so long, and to be taken off the ride so soon, it really was devastating."

Star Jones Returns to The View, Recalls 'Ugly' Departure

Originally posted 02/22/2012 01:10PM

Star Jones returned to The View Wednesday – her first visit to the ABC talk show since her much talked-about departure in June 2006.

"It was ugly. Everything. It was a bad emotional time. Nasty things were being said in the media," Jones said after her former boss, Barbara Walters, insisted on discussing her exit, when the host abruptly announced she was leaving on the air, then revealed she had been fired by the show.

"I wanted to go out on my own terms so that if I walked back here I'd feel good about it," Jones continued. "I had eight fantastic years here. One was 'eh.' I came back to congratulate you on all you accomplished. I hope you congratulate me on what I accomplished."

Sherri Shepherd Blasts Barbara Walters over N-Word Use on The View

Originally posted 10/04/2011 10:10AM

Tempers flared on Monday's episode of The View as Sherri Shepherd chastised Barbara Walters for using the N-word in a newsy context.

Whoopi Goldberg used the word first on Monday's broadcast while quoting presidential candidate Herman Cain. Walters repeated it in context of their conversation, though she told her co-hosts, "It's very hard for me to say. ? The fact that I just said it now gives me chills."

The co-hosts were discussing the name of a hunting camp used by Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry. But when Walters said the word, she drew a sharp rebuke from Shepherd.

Originally posted 09/06/2011 12:00PM

The View returned to ABC Tuesday to launch its 15th season on the air – but the ladies had even bigger milestones to discuss.

While on their summer hiatus, Sherri Shepherd tied the knot with Lamar Sally on Aug. 13 in Chicago, and her co-host Joy Behar said I do with her longtime partner Steve Janowitz the day before.

"I'm going to make this marriage work if it kills me," Shepherd, who wore her wedding dress and sky-high, sparkling wedding shoes, said at the top of the hour on Tuesday.

Shepherd, whose wedding was filmed for a Style Network special scheduled to air Sept. 13, told the audience about a close call during the celebration. "One of my bridesmaids, I think it was Niecy Nash, said, 'Don't wear any underwear," Shepherd said. "They knew me and Sal had been celibate for 11 months, so [she wanted me to do] anything [I could] do to get him turned back on."

VIDEO: Whoopi Goldberg & Joy Behar Storm Off The View

It's not a surprise that Bill O'Reilly and The View's Joy Behar may not see eye to eye politically. But a discussion about Muslims and the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on Thursday's show set off a firestorm – prompting the redhead and her co-host Whoopi Goldberg to leave the set.

During a discussion about the proposed Islamic cultural center downtown Manhattan, O'Reilly insisted it would be "inappropriate" to have a Muslim place of worship so near to Ground Zero.

This prompted Whoopi Goldberg to inquire, "Why is it inappropriate?"

Which Reality Star Had the Toughest Time on The View?

Originally posted 08/06/2010 01:00AM

It was a rough week for reality stars on The View. First, Teresa Giudice faced the panelJoy Behar, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and guests Bryant Gumbel and Mario Cantone – on Monday to promote her book, Skinny Italian, and answer tough questions about her widely reported financial troubles, which include filing for bankruptcy last fall and possibly having her personal belongings put on the auction block.

"Whew! It's over! I knew The View wasn't going to be a lovefest, but you gotta take the tough questions sometimes," the Real Housewives of New Jersey star posted later on her Facebook page. "I'm a tough cookie. It takes more than an old comedian to bring me down."

Then, on Wednesday, the women welcomed Bachelor star Jake Pavelka, who talked about his relationship and messy breakup with Vienna Girardi. He also found himself denying he is gay. Not that there's anything wrong with being gay – "One of my best friends is gay," he said. When he told Elisabeth, "I can't see how someone would look at you and not be completely attracted," Sherri Shepherd shut him down and said, "She's married."

Real Housewives of DC Star and Whoopi Goldberg's War of Words

Originally posted 08/05/2010 01:00AM

It started out like a typical episode of The View on Wednesday: co-hosts Sherri Shepherd and Joy Behar ribbed their guests with tough – but playful – questions. But backstage after the show, a major drama played out.

When Michaele Salahi and her Real Housewives of D.C. castmates – Mary Schmidt Amons, Lynda Erkiletian, Catherine Ommanney and Stacie Scott Turner – appeared on the ABC talk show, the newly-minted reality star was rattled after she said Whoopi Goldberg, who was offstage for the segment, walked on the set, touched her arm and tried to refocus her on the topic at hand: her alleged crashing of the White House state dinner last November.

Though the encounter occupied no more than several seconds of airtime, offstage, an ugly scene reportedly happened when Salahi and her husband Tareq complained to producers about what she tells PEOPLE was a "humiliating and torturous" experience at the hands of Goldberg – and her View co-hosts.

President Obama's (Funny) Snooki Snafu

President Obama's (Funny) Snooki Snafu

Originally posted 07/30/2010 11:10AM

Just call it Snookigate.

He may have told Joy Behar and all her View co-hosts Thursday that he'd never heard of Jersey Shore star Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi – but President Obama has, in fact, used the buxom brunette as a punchline before.

Recall in May, at the annual White House Correspondents Dinner in D.C., when he made a crack at the expense of the rather tan House minority leader, John Boehner. While talking about his health care bill, President Obama joked about a tanning tax, and said, "the following individuals shall be excluded from the indoor tanning tax within this bill: Snooki, JWOWW, The Situation and House minority leader John Boehner."

Just blame the lapse on work fatigue – or the very real fact that Obama employed a team of joke writers, including some from The Daily Show, to pen his bon mots at the dinner.

President Obama Keeping Up with Lindsay Lohan's Legal Woes

Between fielding questions about the economy, Afghanistan, and racial tensions in the U.S., President Barack Obama got down to the important stuff on The View Thursday: the alleged rants of Mel Gibson, the jail term of Lindsay Lohan and Jersey Shore's Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi – and the burning question of should she run for mayor of Wasilla, Alaska.

Quizzed by Joy Behar in a "lightening" round, Obama was asked if he knew if Lohan is in jail. "I actually know that, yes," the President responded.

But Snooki stumped him. "Should Snooki run as mayor of Wasilla?" Behar asked. Obama, laughing, responded, "I gotta admit, I don't know who Snooki is."
