No Hot Vampire Love on the True Blood Set

They may be all over each other off-duty, but when True Blood couple Stephen Moyer and Anna Paquin are together on set, they're as smooth and cool as, well, vampires, according to costar Sam Trammell.

"They're so professional, I had no idea they were together at first," he said at the PEOPLE/Entertainment Tonight Emmys after-party on Sunday night. "And then I had no idea he'd proposed to her."

Even now that the cat's out of the bag, Trammell says, you'd be hard-pressed to figure out their onscreen chemistry continues off-screen as well.

True Blood Wedding Going to the Dogs

Sure, vampires and weredogs have never gotten along in Bon Temps, La., the fictional setting of HBO's hit series True Blood, but when Stephen Moyer marries Anna Paquin, those of the furry kind will be well-represented in the wedding party.

"Splash, my alpha, will be the ringbearer," Moyer said at the L.A. Dogworks and Good Dog Animal Rescue fund raiser on Wednesday. "My son [Billy, born in 2000] might be unhappy about that."

But Splash, a 10-year-old border collie Moyer calls "a grumpy little sod," won't have to worry about getting fitted for a tux quite yet. Moyer, 39, and Paquin, 27 – who spent nearly the entire event holding hands – haven't set a date yet.

True Blood Costar Unaware of On-Set Romance

The onscreen brother is always the last to know.

Speaking at the Entertainment Tonight/PEOPLE Emmy party after Sunday's big event, Ryan Kwanten – the hottie who plays dumb-as-a-rock but well-meaning Bon Temps good ol' boy Jason Stackhouse on HBO's True Blood – said he may have been the only person not to have figured out that his costars Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer were in a relationship.

"I'm always the last to know. My ear is not very close to the ground," he said. "Stephen actually had to come up to me and tell me. He said, 'Ryan I know you're not really up with the gossip side of things. but before you hear from anyone else, we've been dating for the last 10 months.' "

The resident lothario of HBO's True Blood, Jason Stackhouse, isn't what you'd call a deep thinker, but the actor who plays him, Australian Ryan Kwanten, says assuming the role of such a glorious dimwit calls for some interesting acting techniques.

"I pride myself on my half-sentences, that's how I get by," he told PEOPLE with a laugh at Tuesday's grand opening of the Katsuya L.A. Live Restaurant at the Nokia Theater Complex, to benefit After-School All-Stars. "It's always, dot-dot-dot after everything that I say, it just makes things easier. I've always loved the notion that stupidity won't kill you, it will just make you sweat. So, I think that Jason lives in this perpetual state of sweating."

But Kwanten, 32, stays mum on rumors that his take on Jason Stackhouse is based on our former president.

Anna Paquin Truly Enjoying Her True Blood Romance

Being on True Blood is bitingly good, but for Anna Paquin also having her fiancé on set of the HBO vampire series is simply the best.

"What makes relationships so difficult with my job is all the traveling and being away from your significant other," she tells Britain's Elle for its October issue. "Eventually it gets too hard to maintain."

But since the Oscar-winning actress, 27, began dating her TV vampire costar Stephen Moyer in February, life has been a dream, as they get to hang out constantly.

Vampires, move over: Werewolves are about to claw their way to the top.

Besides the sudden sprouting of hair expected on Jacob (Taylor Lautner) come Nov. 20's release of the Twilight sequel New Moon, MTV is getting ready to howl with a TV version of the 1985 Michael J. Fox movie Teen Wolf, about a high-school kid who discovers the strange effects of a full moon, says the Hollywood Reporter.

"It has a fresh take and is very different from the original," promises the music network's senior vice-president of series development, Liz Gateley. "It has more of an American Werewolf in Paris feel to it."

Anna Paquin & Stephen Moyer Kept Romance Quiet on True Blood Set

They started dating two years ago, but newly engaged couple Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer have never let their romance adversely affect their work on True Blood, says costar Carrie Preston.

"They got together during the pilot although they kept it very quiet," Preston told PEOPLE Monday night at the Nylon magazine Fall TV & Fashion issue party that Paquin hosted. "I didn't know about it until way into the season. They were very cool and professional about it."

Moyer also attended Monday's event, held at Skybar in the Mondrian Hotel in West Hollywood. He was joined by much of the True Blood cast, plus celebs such as Eliza Dushku, Emma Roberts, Shannon Elizabeth, Rick Fox and Entourage's Kevin Connolly.

Moyer, 39, and Paquin, 27, spent much of the evening chatting up friends – many of whom gushed over Paquin's ring. But they also made time for each other, with Moyer hugging Paquin tight as she nuzzled close and whispered in his ear.

Family Guy Helps Make Emmy History

Originally posted 07/16/2009 08:40AM

While Emmy didn't bite HBO's vampire hit True Blood for any of the major categories, Family Guy became the first animated series since The Flintstones in 1961 to be nominated as best comedy series – which will pit it against a record six other programs, it was announced Thursday morning.

Besides the often outrageous adventures of the Griffin family, the outstanding comedy series nominees are Entourage, Flight of the Conchords, How I Met Your Mother, The Office, 30 Rock and Weeds.

Dramatic series nominees are Big Love, Breaking Bad, Damages, Dexter, House, Lost and Mad Men.

Real-Life Bat Saved by True Blood Vampires

Originally posted 07/13/2009 02:25PM

On top of the intense heat, breathtaking humidity and its action-packed tornado storyline, a tiny bat came tumbling out of a tree on the set of HBO's vampire series True Blood during weekend filming in Louisiana – to be saved by the crew.

While Steve Moyer (who plays main vampire Bill Compton) and his on-screen and real-life leading lady Anna Paquin (who plays heroine Sookie Stackhouse) watched with interest, crew medic Holly O'Quin fed the baby bat evaporated milk and egg whites, reports the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

O'Quin, a nurse, consulted with her brother, Jeff Galpin, an animal wrangler, for advice on caring for the injured bat and nursed it back to health using syringe feedings.

A couple that boxes together, stays together?

At least, according to True Blood's Stephen Moyer – the brooding Brit who plays Southern vampire Bill Compton and throws punches with costar and real-life love Anna Paquin.

"When I was a boy I loved boxing," he tells Access DirecTV magazine in its July issue of his off-screen pastime. "And I've got Anna into it."

Of their love for the brutal hobby, Moyer adds, "I like the sport and she likes the blood. I'm like, 'Stop the fight, people are getting hurt, I can't bear it!' and she's going, 'Go on, hit 'em!' She loves it. She boxes too."
