True Blood's Carrie Preston: 'There Were Real Tears' Filming New Season

Originally posted 06/17/2013 02:45PM

For all the emotion amid the bloodshed on Sunday night's season premiere of True Blood, there's even more to come on the HBO vampire hit.

Carrie Preston, who plays waitress Arlene Bellefleur, revealed on the Live From the Set lead-in to the episode that "there were real tears" when they filmed this season.

With speculation that Alexander Skarsgard, who plays Viking vampire Eric Northman, is killed off this season, fans are buzzing about an upcoming episode that features a funeral. Carrie added fuel to the speculation fire, saying, "We had this one table read, the first time we were hearing the script out loud, and one of the actors started crying and then everybody joined in. It was a pretty beautiful moment."

Originally posted 06/13/2013 04:00PM

Stephen Moyer has been stripping down for years on True Blood. But for some episodes of the new season, he was in charge of getting his costars naked, too – and found that just as enjoyable.

"It was a lot of fun doing three hours of makeup and getting into complete red-blob land, and then directing my fellow actors naked. That was a lot of fun," Moyer said Tuesday at the HBO vampire show's season 6 premiere at Hollywood's Cinerama Dome at the Arclight.

Moyer, 43, who tries his hand at directing this season – which kicks off Sunday (9 p.m. ET) – says he's very understanding with the other actors when it comes to the pressure of baring all for the cameras.

Sarah Jessica Parker and True Blood's Alfre Woodard stepped out in Cincinnati on Saturday to campaign for President Barack Obama – but Parker managed to squeeze in a little shopping, too.

The actresses – who were encouraging women to vote in the upcoming election – stopped into Sloane Boutique in Over-the-Rhine, Ohio.

"Sarah was so nice and so pleasant to be around," the boutique's owner tells PEOPLE. "Very humble and very down-to-earth."

The I Don't Know How She Does It actress tried on Veda leather jackets and bought some bracelets for her twin daughters, Loretta and Tabitha.

"She told me she couldn't wait to come back and shop again," the boutique owner added.

Lindsay Lohan Acts Up a Storm as Elizabeth Taylor (Video)

Originally posted 09/21/2012 10:15AM

As the most famous celebrity couple of the '60s – if not the 20th century – Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton were known as the "Battling Burtons" during their two tumultuous marriages and divorces.

Now, Lindsay Lohan, who has been known to face some battles of her own, is assaying the role of the violet-eyed, little-girl-voiced beauty who captured the hearts of millions, to say nothing of that of the lusty Welshman who could always act rings around his costars. (Watch the trailer below.)

Just how well LiLo comes off as La Liz, and True Blood's Grant Bowler as Dick, can be sampled in a 30-second trailer for the Lifetime TV movie Liz & Dick.

True Blood Cookbook Serves Up Bloody Good Bites

Originally posted 08/26/2012 12:45PM

True Blood fans worried about going through withdrawal after the season finale Sunday can cope with their vampire blues in the kitchen: A new cookbook, True Blood: Eats, Drinks and Bites from Bon Temps, featuring food inspired by the fantastical HBO show, is out Aug. 29 – and People.com has an early look at some of the recipes.

Marcelle Bienvenu, a culinary school teacher and cookbook author in Louisiana, developed the Southern-style recipes for the book with help from the producers of the vampire saga.

"I like the references they make to food on the show and I'm happy that the referenced food is authentic," says Bienvenu. "Developing and testing the recipes was a great adventure."

The cookbook has cocktails inspired by the show's vampire bar Fangtasia, Southern staples served at Merlotte's and home cooking favorites like Lettie Mae Daniel's Hoecakes and Jessica Hamby's Chicken-Fried Love with Gravy.
