The story of Ron Woodroof's (Matthew McConaughey) personal fight against the FDA and the widely used AIDS drug AZT in the mid-1980s has won Dallas Buyers Club a healthy share of statuettes this awards season, and there are six more opportunities on the horizon with the March 2 Oscars.
Woodroof, diagnosed with AIDS in 1985 and given 30 days to live, went on to survive another seven years after this medical verdict, largely due to the vitamins and drugs he smuggled in from Mexico – and which he turned into a business selling to other AIDS patients.

While she struggles to come to terms with her second conviction for the 2007 murder of her roommate, Meredith Kercher, a first look at a new movie inspired by Amanda Knox was released on Tuesday.
The Face of an Angel, directed by Michael Winterbottom, is, according to Variety, a fictional adaption of journalist Barbie Latza Nadeau's Angel Face: Sex, Murder and the Inside Story of Amanda Knox. It stars Kate Beckinsale, Cara Delevingne and Daniel Brühl.
The film focuses on the reporter (Beckinsale) and documentary filmmaker (Bruhl) covering the media circus surrounding an American student in Italy and her Italian boyfriend after the slaying of her roommate.
