The Duke of Cambridge mixed fatherhood with royal duties on Friday.
He proudly told of how he had cradled a smiling Prince George in his arms early in the day before heading to a homelessness center in Sunderland in the northeast of England.
There, got his hands dirty – well, dusty – in the kitchen, sprinkling flour and rolling out dough to make chapati bread for a curry meal.
His thoughts turned to home when asked about his 4-month-old. "He was saying he had been holding him and his baby had been smiling into the mirror," said Jennifer Sams, 19, at the center.

All hail the future king!
At just 3 months old, Prince George hit all his royal marks in a series of intimate photos shot just after his christening on Oct. 23. But the little heir also has no trouble making himself heard.
His maternal grandmother, Carole Middleton, "did say he has a nice pair of bellows on him – a good set of lungs!" Middleton family friend Martin Fidler tells PEOPLE in this week's cover story.

The royal spoofs just keep coming.
Seth MacFarlane and the animators of Family Guy are poking some fun at the royal family, this time with a good-natured parody of the christening picture.
Instead of the adorable Prince George, we find troublemaking Stewie in Princess Kate's lap, with a grin on his face that suggests he's up to no good.

Prince George may only be 3 months old, but the newly baptized baby is already making his presence felt in his family.
When Time visited Queen Elizabeth's Balmoral estate in preparation for its new cover story on Prince Charles, writer Catherine Mayer spotted a smart Silver Cross pram – what Americans call a baby carriage – with a navy blue canopy and cover, standing in a hallway by the side door.
That was not the only passing of traditions that the magazine reported.

A big day for little Prince George.
Lightly jiggled in his father's arms, the 3-month-old looked slightly perplexed at the attention as his parents, Prince William and Kate, greeted clergy at the doors of the baby's special christening service.
Led by the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, the 35-minute, private ceremony started at 3 p.m. London time (10 a.m. ET) at the Chapel Royal in St. James's Palace.
Shortly after her arrival with Prince Philip, Queen Elizabeth spoke with William and Kate, with smiles all around. Kate – in an Alexander McQueen outfit and nude-and-ivory Jane Taylor hat – greeted George's great-grandfather with a kiss on both cheeks and a small curtsy.
As if to underscore the continuity of the monarchy, there, too, at the chapel door were Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have picked close friends, a royal and a friend of Princess Diana as godparents to 3-month-old Prince George.
The names of the seven – that's one more godparent than William has – were released a few hours before they were to join senior royals and the Middleton family for George's christening.
Led by the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, the service is set to take place at 3 p.m. London time (10 a.m. ET) at the Chapel Royal in St. James's Palace.
These are the people who will have a special place in Prince George's life:
