With the twinkle in his eye and his apple-pie smile, not to mention that fat-free torso, Ryan Lochte is fully-equipped to get anybody's attention. Still, a little extra never hurt.
Meet Carter, a 5-year-old Doberman pinscher and the Olympic swimmer's lady magnet.
"He is a good wingman because he's a beautiful dog," Lochte tells PEOPLE. "Girls come up to me and go, 'Oh my god, where's Carter? He's so good looking!'"

He may have bared (almost) all of that incredibly chiseled body in this year's Magic Mike but 2012's Sexiest Man Alive Channing Tatum was still modest when he heard the news.
"My first thought was, 'Y'all are messing with me,'" says Tatum, who married actress Jenna Dewan-Tatum in 2009. "I told Jenna after we'd been in the bathtub washing our dogs because they'd gotten skunked."
Says the actor: "She was like, 'What?'"
"Yeah, she calls me [the Sexiest Man Alive] now," he adds. And who can blame her?

The horse didn't seem to mind, but for the actor, climbing aboard and posing naked was a bit awkward.
"I’m not going to lie. I’ve never ridden bareback on a horse, let alone without pants, so that was new," James Van Der Beek – referring to Tuesday's special Sexiest Man Alive episode of his ABC sitcom Don't Trust the B–– in Apt. 23 – told PEOPLE at Tuesday's GQ magazine's 2012 Men of the Year Party, held at Hollywood's Chateau Marmont.
The episode, in which Van Der Beek ends up as PEOPLE's sexy cover guy after a prank is pulled on the magazine staff by the character Chloe (Krysten Ritter), featured a photo layout of the actor wearing only a shirt as he rides a horse.

GIF Named Oxford Dictionary's Word of the Year

Being a computer geek just got a little sexier.
Oxford Dictionaries announced Monday the Oxford Dictionaries USA Word of the Year for 2012 is GIF.
If you're not familiar with the noun, it is defined as "a compressed file format for images that can be used to create simple, looping animations," according to Katherine Martin, Head of the U.S. Dictionaries Program at Oxford University Press USA.

What turns Julie Bowen on? Perhaps not surprisingly, it's a guy who can make her laugh.
Asked at a charity event on Saturday whom she would pick as PEOPLE's Sexiest Man Alive this year, the two-time Emmy-winning Modern Family actress didn't hesitate.
"Stephen Colbert!" she replied. "Other than my husband, it's Stephen Colbert. My hall pass. He's just so funny."
PEOPLE's choice for the title will be revealed Nov. 14. Be one of the first to find out.
