Amy Poehler and her new beau, Nick Kroll, enjoyed each other's company at the AFI Life Achievement Award ceremony honoring funnyman and filmmaker Mel Brooks at Hollywood's Dolby Theatre on Thursday night.
"Amy looked really happy and upbeat throughout the night – they were cozy," an observer tells PEOPLE. "I haven't seen Amy look this light and airy while out in a long, long time."
Poehler, who split from Arrested Development's Will Arnett last September, and Kroll started dating earlier this year.

There's a new funnyman in Amy Poehler's life.
Since splitting from Will Arnett last September, after nine years of marriage, Poehler has been single, taking care of sons Archie, 4½, and Abel, 2½.
Now she's dating comic Nick Kroll, who stars in his own Kroll Show on Comedy Central, a source confirms to PEOPLE.
The couple was seen dining together at Pikey Café and Bar in Los Angeles on March 29, the New York Post reported, and at an April 30 fundraiser Poehler, 41, hosted for the Worldwide Orphans Foundation charity.

Taylor Swift was anything but pleased when Tina Fey and Amy Poehler mocked her love life at the Golden Globes.
"You know, if you want some big revelation, since 2010 I have dated exactly two people," Swift says in the March issue of Vanity Fair (available on newsstands March 7).
She continues, "The fact that there are slideshows of a dozen guys that I either hugged on a red carpet or met for lunch or wrote a song with ... it's just kind of ridiculous."

Amy and Tina, where'd you go?
Co-hosting the 70th Annual Golden Globes on NBC, 30 Rock's Tina Fey and Parks and Recreation's Amy Poehler started the night with a smashing duologue – a flawless link of strong one-liners.
If the bit had gone on long enough, you could have protected our national borders with it.

As if being co-hosts and nominees at the Golden Globes weren't enough, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler amusingly added fake nominees to their job duties on Sunday.
The former Saturday Night Live castmates – nominated for best actress in a TV comedy, which was won by Lena Dunham of HBO's Girls – crashed the categories of best actor and actress in a TV movie or miniseries, putting on loony disguises and sneaking in as nominees for a fairly bizarre-sounding film called Dog President.
Poehler, sporting red hair and buck teeth, was introduced as actress Darcy St. Fudge, "a psychic who solves her own murder." Fey popped up in the actor category as Damian Francisco, "a professional volleyball player battling restless-leg syndrome."
