It's a Hollywood date night!

Amy Poehler and her new beau, Nick Kroll, enjoyed each other's company at the AFI Life Achievement Award ceremony honoring funnyman and filmmaker Mel Brooks at Hollywood's Dolby Theatre on Thursday night.

"Amy looked really happy and upbeat throughout the night – they were cozy," an observer tells PEOPLE. "I haven't seen Amy look this light and airy while out in a long, long time."

Poehler, who split from Arrested Development's Will Arnett last September, and Kroll started dating earlier this year.

"Life is challenging," the Arrested Development actor says in the latest issue of Details. "I'd say there's no guidebook – but there's about a million guidebooks out there. [Laughs] All people have been doing since the dawn of time is trying to figure out how to live this life and be happy. I'm no different."

He adds, "I'm 43 and I've found my happiness – which is my kids."

There's a new funnyman in Amy Poehler's life.

Since splitting from Will Arnett last September, after nine years of marriage, Poehler has been single, taking care of sons Archie, 4½, and Abel, 2½.

Now she's dating comic Nick Kroll, who stars in his own Kroll Show on Comedy Central, a source confirms to PEOPLE.

The couple was seen dining together at Pikey Café and Bar in Los Angeles on March 29, the New York Post reported, and at an April 30 fundraiser Poehler, 41, hosted for the Worldwide Orphans Foundation charity.

After Sunday's Golden Globes, West Hollywood's Soho House hosted a private afterparty, where co-hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler celebrated being the first female duo to ever host a major awards show.

Around midnight, the party began to move from the main bar to the outside bar. There, Robert Pattinson "held court and joked around with Tina Fey," an onlooker tells PEOPLE. "He presented her with a red rose."

As if being co-hosts and nominees at the Golden Globes weren't enough, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler amusingly added fake nominees to their job duties on Sunday.

The former Saturday Night Live castmates – nominated for best actress in a TV comedy, which was won by Lena Dunham of HBO's Girls – crashed the categories of best actor and actress in a TV movie or miniseries, putting on loony disguises and sneaking in as nominees for a fairly bizarre-sounding film called Dog President.

Poehler, sporting red hair and buck teeth, was introduced as actress Darcy St. Fudge, "a psychic who solves her own murder." Fey popped up in the actor category as Damian Francisco, "a professional volleyball player battling restless-leg syndrome."
