Emmy Rossum and Adam Duritz Have Split Up

Emmy Rossum has revealed she and Counting Crows frontman Adam Duritz split up two months ago but says they remain on good terms.
"We're still very close friends," Rossum, 24, tells USA Today.
The two were first linked in the fall of 2009 after they'd been spotted together multiple times. As a couple they remained relatively quiet, but Rossum did reveal she originally met Duritz, 46, through Twitter.

The two were in town for the Savannah Film Festival and headed over to McDonough's, which is famous for karaoke, but a source reveals that "the karaoke manager said there was a long list of people who were going to sing and that the list was closed." Duritz and Rossum laughed the whole thing off – plus, Rossum was already making music before receiving the Young Hollywood award at the festival that night. "She was singing in the green room," the source says, "which made [Adam] laugh."

Emmy Rossum "really can't say" whether Adam Duritz is officially her boyfriend, but she will happily dish on why women love him.
"I get why chicks dig him," Rossum tells PEOPLE at the grand launch of the W Hotel in Washington, D.C. "He's extremely kind, incredibly intelligent, thoughtful, creative and respectful."
Rossum, 23, who filed for divorce from her husband last month, has been seen recently on multiple dates with Duritz, 45, who has previously dated Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox Arquette.
"I don't discuss my love life because it's always misinterpreted or put under the microscope," she says. "It's especially annoying when you're dating someone else who's well-known, which is why I normally would never go out with a famous guy."

Emmy Rossum may be suffering the end of a secret marriage, but she and the new man in her life, Adam Duritz, are already making sweet music together, Duritz tells PEOPLE.
Rossum, 23, whose husband Justin Siegel recently filed for divorce, was all in white at the American Ballet Theater Fall gala at Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall in New York on Wednesday. She was there with Duritz, lead singer of Counting Crows, with whom she's been seen smooching in Manhattan and Beverly Hills lately.
"I like to dress up," said tuxedo-clad Duritz, following a broadly smiling Rossum, wearing a Marchesa gown, into the gala. "I like bow ties." Asked if she enjoyed herself this evening, Rossum replied, "Very fun, thank you." The two held hands on their way to dinner after the performance.

Emmy Rossum's husband, music executive Justin Siegel, has filed for divorce after a year-and-a-half marriage.
Siegel cites irreconcilable differences and seeks spousal support from Rossum, 23, according to the Sept. 25 filing in Los Angeles Superior Court. The couple had no children.
Although no date of separation is listed on the divorce filing, a source says the pair split in August.

Adam Duritz Talks About His 'Downward Spiral'

It hasn't been an easy road for Counting Crows lead singer Adam Duritz. While touring the world and performing onstage for adoring fans, the "Mr. Jones" singer was battling severe depression and an inability to connect with people, he reveals to PEOPLE.
"I've been dealing with mental illness," Duritz, 43, says. "But I didn't want to say anything for a long time. I went crazy. It was scary."
After years of not knowing exactly what was wrong with him, he recently found a doctor who diagnosed him with a disassociative disorder, which can distort reality for those who have it.
"Being crazy is bad," he says. "It's scary when the world isn't real to you. You come untethered. Everything seems imaginary. You look around the room and nothing seems real. You don't feel pain. I stopped letting myself feel."
