Idol Kris Allen Says Adam Lambert is Finally Showing His True Colors

Originally posted 12/15/2009 10:10AM

Shocked over Adam Lambert's recent performance antics? Don't be, says American Idol winner Kris Allen, because there is more to come.

"Yeah, that's who he is," Allen told the press at last Friday's Z100's Jingle Ball at New York's Madison Square Garden. "Obviously, he couldn't do that stuff on Idol. And so you're getting to see the real Adam now."

Lambert caused an uproar for his sexually-charged performance on the American Music Awards last month, which led ABC to cancel his scheduled New Year's Eve appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live and his performance on Good Morning America. He was allowed to appear on The View.

Adam Lambert has no idea what he is doing over the holiday season – and that's just the way he likes it.

"I don't have any specific plans yet and am going to play it by ear," he told PEOPLE at the Anti-Defamation League's Award Gala honoring director Steven Spielberg in Los Angeles Wednesday.

"I hope to spend it with the people I love: my friends and family. I will probably stay in L.A., though the spirit may move me to throw on the snow clothes and head to Big Bear, or maybe go down to Mexico."

Adds Lambert, "I like to be spontaneous, and it will be the only time recently when my life will not be completely blocked out."

ABC Cancels Another Adam Lambert Performance

Originally posted 12/03/2009 08:30AM

As far as ABC is concerned, the controversy surrounding Adam Lambert still hasn't cooled down enough for him to be handled. For the second time, the network has cancelled an appearance by the onetime American Idol favorite.

"Yes, sadly friends, ABC has canceled my appearances on Kimmel and NYE," Lambert, 27, wrote on his Twitter account. ":( don't blame them. It's the FCC heat."

The singer's racy American Music Awards performance earned the FCC and the network thousands of complaints from viewers who thought his homoerotic gyrations inappropriate for TV. ABC quickly nixed an appearance on Good Morning America, saying his stage style was not suited for a morning show – a move Lambert took in good humor.

Adam Lambert Jokes Being a PEOPLE Sexy Man Inspired Performance

Originally posted 11/27/2009 01:15PM

Adam Lambert's performance at the American Music Awards – during which he locked lips with a male and simulated oral sex – was deemed too sexual for some. And just weeks before that, the American Idol finalist was featured in PEOPLE's Sexiest Men Alive issue. Coincidence? Maybe not: Lambert jokes that inclusion on the Sexy Man list may have inspired him.

"I don't know, maybe it went to my head and that's why I did the performance the way I did," the singer, 27, quipped to eTalk, a Canadian entertainment program.

Is Adam Lambert a 'Role Model' or 'Nightmare'?

Originally posted 11/25/2009 10:00AM

Adam Lambert knows that, as a performer with an over-the-top stage act, audiences are going to love him or hate him – and he's fine with either.

"I could be somebody's role model, but on the flip side I could be somebody's worst nightmare at the same time," the singer, 27, tells Popeater. "You never know how you're going to affect people, being in this position."

Right now, the "nightmare" tag seems to be predominant among many, since his overtly sexual show at the American Music Awards on Sunday infamously caused ABC to cancel Lambert's morning-show performance a couple days later.

Adam Lambert Shrugs Off AMAs Controversy

Originally posted 11/24/2009 02:40PM

Everyone's aflutter about Adam Lambert's racy performance at the American Music Awards on Sunday – except Adam Lambert.

"I'm not a babysitter, I'm a performer," Lambert, 27, tells Ryan Seacrest in an interview on the latter's Web site, adding, "The spirit of rock and roll is alive and well."

Not on ABC, which apparently didn't approve of Lambert's stage show in which he French-kissed a band member and simulated oral sex. The network has made it clear that Lambert won't be performing on its morning program. It cancelled an appearance on Good Morning America slated for Wednesday after receiving over 1,500 complaints about the Sunday broadcast. The network says it doesn't feel he'd be appropriate for a morning audience. After the GMA cancellation, CBS asked Lambert to perform on its Early Show on Wednesday instead.

Who Takes a Better Spill: Lopez or Lambert?

Originally posted 11/23/2009 10:05AM

So you're a newcomer to fame and have taken an embarrassing spill in front of thousands on a widely watched awards show. At least you're in good company.

That's probably what Adam Lambert thought after the 2009 AMAs, during which he took a tumble while performing – a slip that Jennifer Lopez also made while jumping off a dancer's back.
