Al Gore Cleared in Sexual Abuse Case
Originally posted 07/30/2010 06:00PM
Former Vice President Al Gore has been cleared of a massage therapist's sexual abuse allegations due to "lack of credible evidence," prosecutors in Portland, Ore., said Friday.
The Multnomah County District Attorney's office said a "sustainable criminal case does not exist" after looking into claims by Molly Hagerty, who alleged Gore, 62, had made "unwanted sexual contact" with her during a massage at his hotel in 2006.
Prosecutors declined to pursue the case after interviewing witnesses who were at the hotel and since Hagerty failed a polygraph test. The D.A.'s office also said forensic testing disputed her accusations.

Tipper Gore Isn't Buying Masseuse's Story
Originally posted 07/07/2010 07:00AM
According to the tabloids, the last straw in Al and Tipper Gore's 40-year marriage was massage therapist Molly Hagerty's claim the former Vice President demanded sexual favors during a 2006 massage in his Portland, Ore. hotel room.
"And they also say Al had an affair with a Tennessee Titans cheerleader one week, a Hollywood producer the next," says a friend close to the Gores.
But, adds the friend, "None of these is true. Both Al and Tipper are baffled by the allegations across the board, frustrated to see his name dragged through the mud."

The alleged incident took place at the Hotel Lucia Oct. 24, after the masseuse, 54, was called by the hotel to administer a late night massage to a "VIP" client, who was later identified as Gore, 62, the former U.S. Vice President, senator from Tennessee and Nobel Prize-winning advocate for the environment.

Producer Slams Tabloid Report of an Affair with Al Gore
Originally posted 06/15/2010 05:20PM
There is no truth to a tabloid story claiming Al Gore's marriage ended because of a two-year affair with producer Laurie David, her agent tells PEOPLE.
"This report is completely, patently false," says Dorian Karchmar, angrily rejecting the Star magazine report that the former vice president had been seeing David, the ex-wife of Curb Your Enthusiasm's Larry David and a producer of Gore's 2006 Oscar-winning documentary An Inconvenient Truth.
"I have no idea where it started from or why, but it is absolutely, positively and patently untrue," adds the agent.

Fate of Lisa Ling's Sister Linked to Missile Launch Diplomacy
Originally posted 04/03/2009 05:35PM
Detained American journalists Laura Ling and Euna Lee may have become significant players in an international standoff between North Korea and the U.S. over the Asian power's planned launch of a long-range rocket.
Ling, the sister of former The View co-host Lisa Ling, and Lee were captured by a military patrol after allegedly crossing into North Korea from China while shooting a documentary for the Al Gore media venture Current TV.
"From the U.S. perspective, this couldn't have happened at a worse time," says Ralph Cossa of the Pacific Forum/Center for Strategic and International Studies. "We've just handed the North Koreans two trump cards to play which they will use to their maximum benefit."
