Shia LaBeouf Drops Out of Broadway Play Due to 'Creative Differences'

Originally posted 02/21/2013 10:00AM

Shia LaBeouf will not be bowing on the Great White Way this spring.

The actor, who was scheduled to make his Broadway debut in a revival of the play Orphans alongside Alec Baldwin, has dropped out due to "creative differences" producers say in a statement released to the Associated Press.

A source confirms the actor's departure, telling PEOPLE, "He was really into it, but at the end of the day he and the director had very different visions of what his character was like. And, unfortunately, they couldn't resolve those differences."

Another source close to the play echoes that the reason for LaBeouf's withdrawal "amounted to creative differences with the director and Shia."

30 Rock Finale Makes PEOPLE TV Critic 'Deliriously Happy'

Originally posted 01/31/2013 09:05PM

Spoilers ahead!

The 30 Rock finale was one of the most delightful series wrap-ups I can remember. Not only were Liz Lemon and her fellow NBC colleagues not dead – there's really no getting over the end of Lost – but they were full of the sparkling, absurd liveliness that characterized the show at its best throughout seven seasons.

A light sentimentality in this last hour gave everything just enough of an emotional underpinning – which the show has sometimes needed.

With its endless supply of shiny, shapely little jokes, the show could feel like a wonderful salad served up without a bowl. You got tired of being showered with lovely microgreens. This time we got the bowl. It was a lovely burnished wood.

Those living in the path of Hurricane Sandy heard the same message from government officials and loved ones alike: Stay inside.

But Alec Baldwin braved the worsening weather Monday afternoon – for his four-legged friends.

The actor, 54, sans wife Hilaria Thomas, was spotted walking two pint-sized pooches – Gitana and another pup – on the streets of N.Y.C., according to BuzzFeed. He carried no umbrella – not even a raincoat.

More than 7 million people were left without power as Superstorm Sandy drenched the East Coast overnight Monday.

Instead of waking up to updates via TV and radio, Twitter became the go-to for getting news as well as putting out personal statuses of storm survival.

Here are some of the reactions (as well as photo and video) as people survey the damage of the storm on Tuesday morning.

The stars of 30 Rock are getting political – at least in character.

In a new clip from the NBC hit, scheduled to air Wednesday, Tina Fey's Liz Lemon and Alec Baldwin's Jack Donaghy try to sway one undecided voter – Jane Krakowski's character, Jenna Maroney – to cast her vote for their candidate.

"Just one Tweet from you to your fans and [Mitt] Romney wins. It'll be historic. The first really, really rich president," says Baldwin, whose character is a staunch conservative.

Alec Baldwin Shuts Down His Twitter

Alec Baldwin won't be discussing newlywed life in 140 characters or less.

The 30 Rock star, 54, who married yoga instructor Hilaria Thomas over the weekend, shut down his popular Twitter page on Monday.

On his now-defunct feed, Baldwin's followers had read everything from his side of the story after his scuffle with a photographer last month, to his strong opinion about the Academy Awards ("I think a horse, or maybe a cow, should host the Oscars," he Tweeted last February) and his wedding-planning woes.

"It's been fun," he wrote before disabling his personal page, reports New York's Daily News.

Hilaria Thomas Hosts a Big Party – Before Her Wedding to Alec Baldwin

Originally posted 07/02/2012 10:30AM

There's no such thing as too much celebrating on your wedding day.

Hilaria Thomas took that to heart by enjoying a large pre-wedding brunch with close friends and family on Saturday, just hours before tying the knot with Alec Baldwin.

Thomas hosted 55 guests at Edi & the Wolf, a restaurant in New York's Alphabet City. They dined on a special menu of house-made granola and Greek yogurt, French toast with yellow summer peaches, baked eggs with swiss chard and the restaurant's specialty – wiener schnitzel sandwiches with pickled shallots on brioche rolls.

The group also enjoyed watermelon, orange and cucumber juice before Thomas headed to St. Patrick's Old Cathedral to meet her groom.

The married couple returned to Edi & the Wolf with Baldwin's daughter Ireland on Sunday afternoon to watch the Euro 2012 soccer final between Spain and Italy. They were joined by about 20 Spainards, and Baldwin dined on Arctic char with sweet potato pancakes.
