It sure worked for The Full Monty – taking the story of male strippers from the screen to the Broadway musical stage. So why not the new kid on the runaway, Magic Mike?
Apparently, that's the plan already in the works by Channing Tatum, whose own story loosely forms the basis for the new movie, and his screenwriter and producing partner Reid Carolin.
Furthermore, the movie's Alex Pettyfer, 22, says he would "absolutely" do the Broadway version. "I think we should all do the opening night," he tells USA Today about his fellow manscaped costars costars Tatum, Matthew McConaughey, Joe Manganiello and Matt Bomer.

For True Blood's Joe Manganiello, playing a stripper for the upcoming movie Magic Mike meant wearing a thong for the first time.
"I wore these little thongs that literally go up your butt, and it definitely takes getting used to," Manganiello, 35, told PEOPLE at the IWC Schaffhausen watch boutique opening in New York.
"It was uncomfortable at first. It sort of felt like a wedgie," he said, "but once you get into the routine of wearing one, you know what to do and you just do your thing. We all had to suffer a bit for our craft."

For a movie about male strippers, the trailer for Magic Mike (watch below) offers an appropriately tantalizing tease – and allows Channing Tatum to show off the moves he perfected in that line of work once upon a time.
From the moment it begins, the trailer is the Channing show, as he leads costar Alex Pettyfer into an all-girl party dressed as police officers.
Soon, we see Tatum, 31 – as the title character – grinding, break-dancing, flipping and spinning on stage at a strip club, putting on a bravura performance for an adoring crowd. (Only later does it become clear that he's conflicted about his career.)

E L James may be a self-professed "control freak" about the process of bringing her erotic trilogy to movie theaters. But the author may want to take note of her rabid fan base – and just which actor they envision on the big screen.
The not-safe-for-work novel Fifty Shades of Grey is sitting pretty atop multiple best-seller lists, and women everywhere are talking about its protagonist, Anastasia Steele, and her troubled, controlling man, 27-year-old multi-millionaire Christian Grey. And after a Da Vinci Code-esque bidding war, Universal Studios and Focus Features came out on top and will release the film adaptation.
While Christian Bale (circa American Psycho) and Michael Fassbender (of Shame fame) immediately come to mind (as do Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, for obvious reasons), PEOPLE.com readers – and our staff! – also had plenty of suggestions.
Which actor could best embody the young and "very attractive," tall, finely dressed character with "unruly dark-copper-colored hair and intense, bright gray eyes"?

Talk about eye candy!
Before he made movies, Channing Tatum made money taking off his clothes – as a male stripper.
He's not ashamed, he's said of his dancing days, so it seems only fitting that his old job is catching up with his current career.
Beastly's Alex Pettyfer, 21, will take it off in a Steven Soderbergh comedy based on an 18-year-old Tatum, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Alex Pettyfer isn't making any excuses for his rebellious image in Hollywood. If anything, he's embracing it.
"I've heard I've been called a bad boy, or difficult," the actor, 21, says in a profanity-laced interview with VMAN magazine. "Maybe that's because I don't take any bulls---."
The Beastly star, who used to date Glee's Dianna Agron, calls Los Angeles a "s--- hole," and uses a misogynistic expletive to describe the females who inhabit the city.

Hot, young and talented – British actor Alex Pettyfer appears to have everything he needs to make it in Hollywood. Including, it seems, an attitude problem, according to some insiders.
The 20-year-old newcomer's star has risen quickly. He has a lead role in the new films I Am Number Four and Beastly, was – until their recent reported split – dating Glee star Dianna Agron and has a slate of movie offers.
That momentum may soon be reversing, however. Pettyfer is "talented, [but] he's just immature [and] opinionated," a source tells PEOPLE. "Let's hope he can pull it together." Adds the source: "Drama surrounds him."
Plus, in the midst of all the bad-boy buzz, Pettyfer didn't help his case by showing up late for Beastly's premiere presented by Candies in Los Angeles Thursday night.

I Am Number Four's Dianna Agron and Alex Pettyfer appear to have done some division.
According to reports, Agron, who stars as Quinn Fabray on the Fox hit series Glee, moved out of the home the two shared last week.
Considering that Agron, 24, and Pettyfer, 20, never officially confirmed they were together – they dodged engagement rumors while promoting their movie – reports of why they may have split are sketchy.

Dianna Agron and Alex Pettyfer were first romantically linked last summer – and now the Glee star and her British beau may be taking their relationship to the next level.
A source tells PEOPLE that Agron, 24, and Pettyfer, 20, are engaged. "They're very happy about it," adds the source.
Their reps have no comment and the couple – costars in the teen-oriented sci-fi thriller I am Number Four, in theaters Feb. 18 – remain coy about their romance.
When Agron showed up at the I Am Number Four press day wearing a thin diamond band on her left ring finger, she told PEOPLE that her love life is "something I never like speaking [about]," but also shared with reporters that Pettyfer was "great" to work with "because he was so enthusiastic and so determined to give everything he had to this character." She added, "he wasn't a diva, so that was good."

Dianna Agron and Alex Pettyfer's relationship is off on the right foot.
Not only did the English-bred actor, 20, wow Agron's Glee costar Jayma Mays with his good looks and personality, but he also bonded with her husband Adam Campbell.
"[Alex] came on set, and my husband was there that day, so we introduced the Brit to the Brit," Mays, 31, told PEOPLE at Entertainment Weekly's Women in Film Pre-Emmy's bash Friday night in West Hollywood. "Brits hang tight. That's how they are."
