Don't ever confuse Amy Adams for a bridezilla. The actress has been engaged for a year and she still hasn't even locked down a wedding date.

"I've been really busy, and I feel like a horrible fiancée that I haven't gotten swept up in the whole idea of a wedding," Adams, 34, tells Allure in its August issue. "But I just haven't."

Luckily for the star, her fiancé, actor Darren Le Gallo, isn't pressuring her to rush down the aisle.

Too much work makes for very little wedding planning.

Amy Adams, who stars in Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, is so busy juggling projects, she hasn't had any time to work on her nuptials to fiancé Darren Legallo, she tells PEOPLE.

Asked how the planning is going at the movie's premiere in Washington, D.C., on Thursday, Adams said: "It is not, I'm working too hard."

Although Adams, 34, who announced her engagement to longtime boyfriend Legallo last year, admits she's done "nothing" to prep for her big day, she knows what type of wedding she wants – and it's not a big Hollywood bash. "[I want it to be] low key," she says. "It just suits our personalities as a couple more."

She may have played a Disney princess and a guileless young bride but don't confuse Amy Adams with her onscreen alter egos.

"These are the kind of things I hate when I read them" the actress, 34, tells BlackBook about being described as "pure" and "innocent" by the press. "It's interesting to be perceived as innocent. Innocent of what? I'm certainly not naïve."

Adams, who received her second Oscar nomination – the first for 2005's Junebug – for her supporting role in Doubt, and charmed audiences as Enchanted's Princess Giselle, may look the part of her characters, but that's where the similarities end.

Oscar Spotlight: Amy Adams

Considering she's one of Oscar's newest faces, Amy Adams sure is tight with the A-list. The Best Supporting Actress nominee (for Junebug) has already kissed Leonardo DiCaprio and had Steven Spielberg – her Catch Me If You Can director – tell her he's proud of her. "So far, so good!" says Adams, 30, of her seven years in Los Angeles. But the actress, who's one of seven kids, has family to keep her grounded: The morning of the Oscars announcement, her mother was back home in Castle Rock, Colo., working at a Starbucks. "She actually yelled, 'My daughter was just nominated for an Oscar!' She's funny."
