The all-star season of Dancing with the Stars doesn't start until Sept. 24, but contestant Drew Lachey is wasting no time in sizing up the competition.
"Everyone on the show is very competitive," he tells PEOPLE. "Everyone's laughing and like, 'Oh, haha, this is going to be fun,' but I guarantee once the show starts up, you're going to see everybody's true colors come out."
One of the people the 98 Degrees band mate, 36, sees as a direct rival – on the dance floor, that is – is former 'NSYNC singer Joey Fatone, 35.

There were plenty of tears on Dancing with the Stars Monday, as contestants performed routines that represented the most memorable year of their lives.
The emotion made for some big scores, with Katherine Jenkins and Mark Ballas and William Levy and Cheryl Burke earning the first 10s of the season.
Even the pairs with the lowest scores were in a five-way tie with 24 points a piece: Jack Wagner and Anna Trebunskaya; Gladys Knight and Tristan MacManus; Melissa Gilbert and Maksim Chmerkovskiy; Sherri Shepherd and Val Chmerkovskiy; and Gavin DeGraw and Karina Smirnoff.
So who stays and who goes? And were there more tears on Tuesday, when the remaining 11 stars faced the second elimination of the season? Keep reading to find out ...

Jack Wagner doesn't take his relationship with happily wed Dancing with the Stars partner Anna Trebunskaya lightly.
"It's a mini marriage when you have a dance partner," Wagner, 52, told PEOPLE backstage after Dancing's season 14 premiere on Monday. "This is like a relationship. ... Anna can attest to that, having had so many dance partners."
And, like a relationship, Wagner has discovered that it's important to know how to read your partner. "We learn when to be funny and have fun, and when to be serious," he says. "You have to learn when the other person needs space. And we're learning."

The season 14 cast members of Dancing with the Stars are set to hit the parquet in fewer than two weeks. But the new crop of contestants have already suited up in their sparkling best to pose for official portraits.
Sherri Shepherd, who will dance with Val Chmerkovskiy, calls her stint on the ballroom dance competition a "dream come true."
She'll face off against soap star-turned-singer Jack Wagner, who will partner with Anna Trebunskaya. Tennis icon Martina Navratilova will also hit the floor with Tony Dovolani. And Family Matters star Jaleel White will compete alongside former champ Kym Johnson.

Among those sad to say goodbye to another couple on Tuesday's Dancing with the Stars elimination, no one was more disappointed than the ousted pair themselves, Sugar Ray Leonard and Anna Trebunskaya.
"Everyone has an optimism about themselves, and I'm very confident that I did enough to maintain," the boxing legend told PEOPLE. "But that's life. Life is surprising sometimes. Life is shocking sometimes. But you know what? I've gotten down, and I've always gotten back up."
Leonard, 54, was especially bothered about his dismissal because he finally was getting the hang of how things work in the ballroom.
