Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and Pete Wentz have gone silent – as part of a protest against the passage of the gay marriage ban in California.

The pair posed for this dramatic shot to support the NOH8 campaign – a photo project created by photographer Adam Bouska and his partner Jeff Parshley in response to the passage of Proposition 8 in California.

The photos, which represent people being silenced by the proposition which struck down the right for gay couples to marry, were shot at the Noho Lofts in North Hollywood on Monday, June 8. Blink 182's Mark Hoppus was also photographed for the project.

• Pete and Ashlee Simpson-Wentz made the new parent pilgrimage to New York's FAO Schwarz, where 6-month old Bronx Mowgli was the center of his parents' attention. Mom and Dad helped him "ride" a life-size plush pony in the store, and baby Bronx was so eager to read books that he tried to turn the pages himself. The musical mom and dad picked out a Stack & Pull toy, a Sporty stroller and Barefoot books with sing-a-long CDs for their little rocker.

Pete Wentz Laughs Out Loud at Rocky Marriage Rumors

Pete Wentz denied more rumors over the weekend that his marriage to Ashlee Simpson-Wentz is on the rocks.

"I laugh out loud at them," he told Hollyscoop at the Kids' Choice Awards in L.A. " I laugh at all of that stuff. It's like if someone wrote on the Internet that John McCain was our president right now. It's just not true."

The couple had been apart – Wentz on tour with Fall Out Boy and Simpson at home taking care of baby Bronx Mowgli – but they reunited and locked lips onstage at the MTV Australia awards Friday night. "Sorry, we haven't seen each other in a while," he told the audience. "We're going to go and find some quiet time and fornicate somewhere."

The Simpson-Wentz family will celebrate their one-year wedding anniversary on May 16.

Why Ashlee's Moving to Melrose Place

It's all about baby Bronx for Ashlee Simpson-Wentz.

A friend of the singer/actress tells PEOPLE that the new mom has been looking for a way to balance work and family life. Now she's found it as the newest star on The CW's updated version of Melrose Place, which starts filming in April.

"She wanted something stable so she could be close to her baby," a friend tells PEOPLE. "She was specifically looking for something in television as her next step, that filmed in Los Angeles, so she wouldn't have to be away from Bronx."

Ashlee Simpson: Stop Talking About Jessica's Weight

Ashlee Simpson-Wentz says people should leave her older sister Jessica alone.

"I am completely disgusted by the headlines concerning my sister's weight," Ashlee, 24, writes on her blog after photos appeared of Jessica, 28, at the Radio 99.9 Kiss Country's annual Chili Cookoff on Sunday in Pembroke Pines, Fla.

Under the headline, "Since when did a woman's weight become newsworthy," Ashlee says: "A week after the inauguration and with such a feeling of hope in the air for our country, I find it completely embarrassing and belittling to all women to read about a woman's weight or figure."

She adds: "All women come in different shapes, sizes, and forms and just because you're a celebrity, there shouldn't be a different standard."
