Beyoncé Breaks Her Silence on Kanye's VMA Outburst

The other woman at the center of the Kanye West Video Music Awards shout-out scandal is finally speaking out.
Beyoncé Knowles, whose loss to Taylor Swift in the Best Female Video category prompted West to storm the stage and steal the microphone from Swift at the Sept. 13 ceremony, says she understands the rapper's motivation.
"Well, I knew his intentions, and I knew he was standing up for art; and he told me before, when they said the nominees, he's like, 'You have this award,'" she told O: The Oprah Magazine editor-at-large Gayle King.

• After taking in the Grizzly Bear concert recently at the Williamsburg Waterfront Park, Jay-Z and Beyoncé were back in the Brooklyn neighborhood – and hipster hangout – for dinner. The two were spotted dining out at Marlow & Sons, where they sat "alone, cuddling in a corner," a source tells us.

Taylor Swift Wins Best Female Video – Upsetting Kanye West

In true VMA form, the MTV awards show did not stick to the script.
The first winner of the night, Taylor Swift for best female video, was victim to this when she was rudely and quickly interrupted by Kanye West, who cut off her acceptance speech. He stole the microphone to announce that fellow nominee Beyoncé had "one of the greatest videos of all time," in "Single Ladies."
"I was standing on stage and I was really excited because I'd just won the award and then I was really excited because Kanye West was on stage," Swift recalled after the show. "And then I wasn't excited anymore after that."
For her part, Beyoncé appeared shocked by the outburst and the crowd booed the rapper. Off-camera, when West returned to his seat, audience members gave a still-stunned Swift (who was ushered off the stage before finishing her speech) a standing ovation.

Congratulations to Beyoncé and Lady Gaga!
The powerhouse singers scored a whopping nine MTV Video Music Award nominations each, PEOPLE confirms exclusively.
The leading ladies tied for the most nominations in 2009, including video of the year and best female video.
"I'm excited and honored to be tied for most nominated for the VMAs," Beyoncé says. "I've been blessed this year to have 'Single Ladies' become a video people really connected with and responded to. I've spent so much time watching all the great versions people created all around the world. It's beautiful to feel you touch people and bring a song to life with a video."

The low-key couple, dressed down in jeans and sweatshirts, ate in a corner booth at 11:30 p.m., following her concert at Encore Las Vegas. The next night, the rapper returned to the East Coast for his 80 minute headlining performance at the All Points West Music & Arts Festival at Liberty State Park in Jersey City, N.J. Meanwhile, Courtney Love was spotted backstage at the festival with daughter Frances Bean, popping her head into the press tent but then getting camera shy and running away.

Sasha Fierce strikes again! In her latest video for the single, "Sweet Dreams,” Beyoncé sashays and moves her body for a glitzy, hip-shaking four-minute clip. And it's just not one Beyoncé. The singer, 27, is multiplied as she dances across the screen before morphing into a gold-armored robot (she even dons golden finger wave curls!) making sure her fans won't want to wake up from this dream.

Ne-Yo Is Prepped for New Orleans Concert – And the Gumbo

After spending the last four months in Prague where he was shooting the upcoming Tuskegee Airmen drama Red Tails alongside actors Terrence Howard and Cuba Gooding Jr., singer-songwriter Ne-Yo is ready to let loose and head down South.
Hitting the stage at the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans on Friday, Ne-Yo tells PEOPLE he's been prepping his moves. "I'm a little rusty right now; I can admit that! ... But it will not show by the time ya'll see me at Essence! Don't worry!" he assures his fans. Also on the Essence bill: Beyoncé, John Legend and Maxwell.
The star, who recently started rehearsals for his month-long European tour, added: "I've been off the radar while I was shooting [the film], but I'm getting my tour legs back. Performing music is in my blood. It's not like I’ll ever forget how to do it, but anything that you stop doing for a long enough period of time, you get a little rusty."

• Beyoncé and Jay-Z, double-dating with Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin at Madeo Restaurant in Beverly Hills. The couples met for dinner after the BET Awards and were "definitely having a good time and laughing," an onlooker tells us. At one point, the group switched seats so the ladies could sit next to each other in the booth while the guys sat on the outside.
