Bono must have taught his daughter Eve Hewson a thing or two about making an entrance.
The actress made her red-carpet debut at the Cannes Film Festival on Friday wearing a daring black and pink Chanel gown to the screening of her new film, This Must Be the Place.
Hewson is in good company starring alongside Sean Penn in her first big movie role. The film follows an aging rock star on his quest to find his father's persecutor, an ex-Nazi war criminal.
The 19-year-old previously made her acting debut in the indie film The 27 Club.

Salma Hayek's Saturday wedding to French billionaire François-Henri at Venice's Teatro La Fenice opera house was a celebration worthy of its famous venue.
The music kicked in during the ceremony, when the 150 guests – among them Penélope Cruz, Javier Bardem, Ed Norton, Woody Harrelson, Charlize Theron, Stella McCartney and Ashley Judd – serenaded the couple with a Hawaiian-style version of the sentimental classic from The Wizard of Oz, "Over the Rainbow."
Later at the elegant reception, Hayek, Theron and Harrelson joined Bono and Damien Rice on stage for a rendition of something bouncy: "Stand By Me."

The Guys from U2 Go to College
Originally posted 03/06/2009 01:20PM
U2 may be one of the most celebrated and honored bands of all time, but attending college is not among their list of accomplishments.
"We started a rock band to avoid college, now look where we ended up," the U2 lead singer joked to a roaring crowd of students, faculty and alumni early Friday morning at Fordham University.
Added drummer Larry Mullen Jr: "I'm so excited to be here. I'm so pleased for my dad because he's going to see this sometime soon and he's going to say, 'My son Larry finally made it to college.' "
The band performed at the Bronx campus for Good Morning America. The concert featured new and old favorites, from "Get On Your Boots" to "Beautiful Day" – and the band gave a special dedication to Fordham students.
"I'd like to think that Friday nights at Fordham inspired this next song," Bono said as he introduced "I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight."

Bono's Dream: A United States of Africa
Originally posted 06/03/2008 11:00AM
If Bono has his way, there would be two U.S.A.s.
The U2 frontman says the second U.S.A. – a United States of Africa – could help end the strife which afflict much of the continent, according to Agence France-Presse, citing a special Africa edition of Japan's Asahi Shimbun newspaper that Bono guest-edited over the weekend.
"[It] would be the dream," said the singer. "I think a kind of broader African identity is going to be very important to deal with tribal tensions."
Though a United States of Africa may seem more "poetic" and symbolic than a legitimate solution to conflict, Bono says the American USA is an inspiration that has proven otherwise.
