Carrie Bradshaw, 16, Will Have Her Own Identity on The Carrie Diaries

Creators of the CW's upcoming Sex and the City prequel, The Carrie Diaries, say fans should not expect a miniaturized version of iconic HBO show.
"We didn't want to do the Baby Muppets syndrome – 'Oh it's baby Samantha! It's baby Miranda!' " executive producer Amy B. Harris told SATC fans during a screening of the premiere episode on Monday at New York City's School of Visual Arts.
Instead, Harris and creator Candace Bushnell, who was also on hand for the premiere, hope to give 1984's Carrie Bradshaw – played by AnnaSophia Robb – her own identity and a new set of friends, reports Huffington Post.

Sure, everybody knows Carrie Bradshaw – Sarah Jessica Parker in the HBO phenom that kept Sunday nights ablaze from 1998 till 2004, then again in a movie that was hot and a sequel that was not.
Now headed for the small screen is The Carrie Diaries, based on the 2010 prequel by Sex author Candace Bushnell.
The pilot for the CW network will star AnnaSophia Robb, shown here for the first time in costume (designed by Sex and the City and Gossip Girl's Emmy-winning Eric Daman) as the young Carrie.

AnnaSophia Robb has some big – not to mention fashionable – shoes to fill.
The actress, 18, is set to play a high school version of the Manolo Blahnik-obsessing, love-chasing Carrie Bradshaw, a role originated by Sarah Jessica Parker in HBO's Sex and the City, The Hollywood Reporter confirms.
The CW has ordered a pilot episode of The Carrie Diaries, which will chronicle Bradshaw's teen days in '80s Manhattan, long before penning her sex column.

Candace Bushnell Files for Divorce, Claims Husband Had Affair: Report

Sex and the City creator Candace Bushnell has filed for divorce from her husband of nine years, ballet dancer Charles Askegard.
In court papers, Bushnell, 53, claims Askegard had an affair, according to the New York Post, with ballerina Georgina Pazcoguin. The two have worked with the New York City Ballet for the past eight years.
In a statement about the divorce, Bushnell said of Askegard, "We had some wonderful times in our nine-year marriage, and I still care about Charles as a person. I respect his desire to pursue his own happiness and hope that we will continue to be friends in the future."

Sex and the City 2 may not be scheduled to hit theaters until May 28, 2010 – but for fans clamoring for anything new and Sex-related, there's good news ahead: Candace Bushnell is releasing the new book The Carrie Diaries, a teen prequel to her famous franchise.
Set during Carrie Bradshaw's high school years, the book details the budding fashionista's early relationships and how she began her career as a writer. According to the publisher, The Carrie Diaries will also focus on Bradshaw's first love, while the cover art specifically references an incident between the character and her mother.
The Carrie Diaries will be published on April 27, 2010 – and PEOPLE.com has a first look at the new book's cover.

"I was telling her I was shooting a movie and she said, 'Where's my part?' " says Dash, who is directing and acting in the film, which he calls "an urban Snatch." Two days later they met to go over the storyboards. "She said, 'Just make sure I look good.' " Apparently he did: When she showed up to the Yonkers, N.Y., set three days later, he says, "she had the whole set in a tizzy."
