Carrie Ann Inaba holds onto her cat Shadow – and shows off some leg – in a new campaign for PETA aimed to raise awareness about spaying and neutering pets.

The ad, which will be featured on 100 billboards across Los Angeles, shows the Dancing with the Stars judge posing with her feline friend next to the line "Don't Miss a Step – Spay or Neuter Today!" and contact information about the Sam Simon Foundation, a free spay-and-neuter clinic.

"First of all, it's really important to spay and neuter your pets because there are so many," Inaba says in a video posted on PETA's Web site. "What's so sad is people are breeding them, and then we're putting them to sleep ... so I think that it's really important to stop it at the beginning."

Oprah, move over. Carrie Ann Inaba is now joining the ranks of Broadway producer, too.

The Dancing with the Stars judge has signed on as a name above the title of the Latin and ballroom dance spectacular Burn the Floor, which for the first three weeks of its 12-week run will guest star DWTS's Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Karina Smirnoff in their Broadway debuts.

"I'm thrilled to get my feet wet on Broadway with this wonderful production," Inaba said in a statement Monday. "I've been a fan of Burn the Floor since its inception, and I am honored to be a part of the creative team that is bringing this wonderful show to Broadway."

Conceived, directed, and choreographed by Jason Gilkison, former World Champion Latin and Ballroom dancer and guest choreographer on the fourth season of So You Think You Can Dance, Burn the Floor was created as a special performance at Sir Elton John's 50th birthday in 1997. The stage version made its world premiere in the U.K. in 1999.

Broadway previews begin at the Longacre Theatre this Saturday in anticipation of an Aug. 2 opening.

Carrie Ann Inaba is swapping her ballroom gowns and heels for some more casual wear – and it's all for a good cause.

The Dancing with the Stars judge will participate in the 16th Annual Entertainment Industry Foundation and Revlon Run/Walk for Women (co-hosted by Christina Applegate and Miley Cyrus) on May 9, a fund-raiser that Inaba credits with helping her mom battle breast cancer.

"[My mother] was recently diagnosed with cancer and went through everything," Inaba, 41, who participated in the run/walk last year, tells PEOPLE. At the event, she met one of the co-chairs, Lily Tartikoff, who introduced her mother, Patricia Inaba-Chu, to two doctors who helped her choose a chemotherapy program.

Carrie Ann Inaba says just because she's in her 40s doesn't mean life is over.

"I don't look at myself as done, I look at myself as halfway through," the 41-year-old Dancing with the Stars judge tells PEOPLE. "I appreciate my vitality and what life has given me.”

Inaba, whose relationship with dancer Artem Chigvintsev ended last November, says, "Right now, I'm single and happy. I think it's easy for people in their 40s to feel like they've fallen behind something. What that something is I really don't know. [Life] might be better because at 40 you know a lot more about a lot of things."

Dancing with the Stars judge Carrie Ann Inaba and her boyfriend of 2½ years, dancer Artem Chigvintsev, have called it quits, Inaba tells PEOPLE exclusively.

"I'm single. Artem and I broke up in the beginning of November," says Inaba, adding, "As much as our relationship was really good," the two realized that neither "was 'the one' for the other. It was very sad to let go of something that was so good on so many levels."

Inaba, 41, first met Chigvintsev, 26, several years ago, while he was competing on the FOX reality show So You Think You Can Dance. The two began dating in 2006.
