Forget back-to-school shopping and all things pumpkin spice, the real reason everyone's excited for fall is because it brings the return of all of our favorite TV shows – and the chance to develop new obsessions.
In the next few months it looks like TV schedules are going to be more packed than ever as tons of new comedies, dramas and even variety shows vie for DVR space. And even though we've only gotten the briefest of teases of what's heading to small screens, there are already a few shows whose premiere dates we've got marked down on our calendars. (Or, in the case of Neil Patrick Harris' variety show, set to record on every device we own.)
But which fall TV show are you giving a shot? Let's take a look at some of the potential contenders …
Chace Crawford on Returning to TV After Gossip Girl: 'I Wouldn't Take Those Years Back for Anything'

Almost three years after Gossip Girl signed off with a final "xoxo," Chace Crawford is returning to prime time with ABC's new show Blood and Oil as one half of an ambitious, working-class couple hoping to strike gold in a North Dakota boomtown – and he's pretty excited not to be playing a prep schooler.
"It was a great situation, and I get to play a completely different character than the one I portrayed for 6 years," Crawford told PEOPLE. "I wouldn't take those years back for anything."
Still, "It's nice to be able to play something that's closer to home for me," he added, joking, "And to not have to shave my face off every day."

Spotted: Chace Crawford ready to return to TV.
The Gossip Girl actor has been cast as the lead in ABC's pilot Boom, PEOPLE has confirmed.
This is his first leading role on the small screen since the soapy CW show ended in 2012, though Crawford, 29, guested as a WASP-y Yale student on Glee last season (typecasting, much?).
In honor of the sexy star's comeback, we're taking a trip down memory lane with Nate Archibald, the brooding lax bro he played on Gossip Girl. Here are Crawford's hottest moments as the prince of the Upper East Side. (And yes, he's shirtless in most of them. Xoxo, Gossip Girl.)

Chace Crawford enjoyed a leisurely late lunch in New York City on Saturday. The former Gossip Girl star and a male friend were spotted at ABC Kitchen, Jean-Georges Vongerichten's celeb favorite restaurant.
Crawford – looking casual in jeans, a T-shirt and baseball cap – decided on the house roasted turkey sandwich with applewood smoked bacon, arugula and jalapeño, which he said sealed the deal for him. His pal had the Akaushi cheeseburger (which is known as Oprah's favorite burger) with herbed mayonnaise. They both sipped ice tea and bottled water.

For Hollywood, Super Bowl weekend is one big party, and they don't disappoint.
On Saturday night, Lil Wayne performed at a GQ, Lacoste and Mercedes-Benz hosted party at the Elms Mansion in New Orleans. Among the fans on hand was model Kate Upton, who posed for photos in front of her GQ cover and stood on a couch to get a better view of Lil Wayne's show, an onlooker tells PEOPLE.
Even Paul McCartney and wife Nancy Shevell were spotted "rushing through the backstage area to catch the end of his performance," the source adds.

Did you figure it out?
The series finale of Gossip Girl, which aired Monday on the CW, had it all: two weddings (Blair marries Chuck; Serena marries Dan), two stunning wedding gowns (powder blue, beaded Elie Saab Couture on B, and a gold and white strapless Georges Chakra Couture on S), cameo appearances by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Rachel Bilson and Kristen Bell (as themselves, reading the roles of Blair and Serena from a script written by Dan), the return of Jenny Humphrey (briefly!) and the reveal of Gossip Girl's identity. And it's not Dorota.
The person behind the mysterious blog that has kept tabs on the Upper East Side's elite was not a girl at all – it was Brooklyn's very own Dan Humphrey (Penn Badgley).

The L.A. Kings were in party mode on Wednesday night to celebrate this week's big Stanley Cup win.
Surrounded by some of their celebrity fans, several members of the team walked into Beacher's Madhouse at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, holding their hard-earned trophies – and allowing fellow partygoers to pour alcohol in them and take shots!
At one point, "[the venue's owner] Jeff Beacher brought a cake replica of the Stanley Cup on stage and congratulated the team," an onlooker tells PEOPLE. "The emcee also congratulated the team all evening and they were all partying very hard to celebrate their win."
Among the folks excited to honor the local team's big win was Chace Crawford, who seemed like "a very excited fan like the rest of the club," the source says of the actor who kept a relatively low profile. "He had a small group of friends with him [who contributed to the] amazingly cool vibe that filled the club tonight."
Also on hand was David Beckham, who arrived at 12:30 a.m. with a group of guys and looked "very swanky in a suit," according to the insider, who adds, "He sipped on a bottle of beer and was in very high spirits. He had a few people approach him and he was very gracious."
Former Entourage star Kevin Connolly also came out for the momentous occasion.
Sipping on cocktails at a table in the back of the club, "There was a girl that was trying to be all over him," the source says. "It was obvious that he was trying to be nice, but also trying to get away from her."

An NFL lockout couldn't stop Tony Romo from scoring the ultimate touchdown this weekend – the Dallas Cowboys quarterback married Candice Crawford on Saturday evening at Arlington Hall in Dallas, his rep confirms to PEOPLE.
"It was perfect! From the ceremony in beautiful white, to a vibrant after-party and great music selected by Tony himself," says a source, noting the packed dance floor. Reportedly, 600 guests attended.
Cowboy players past and present, such as Troy Aikman, Roger Staubach, Dez Bryant and Miles Austi, as well as team owner Jerry Jones, were seen helping the couple celebrate their nuptials in the historic building tucked in the city's Oak Lawn neighborhood, reports Dallas's KDAF-TV.
