Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger walked the red carpet together – in matching black leather – at the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas on Sunday. With Lavigne in a strapless leather dress and Kroeger in a black leather jacket, the couple complimented each other as they posed for photos.
The Nickelback singer, 38, frontman proposed to Lavigne, 28, with a 14-carat diamond ring over the summer.

As if the 14-carat engagement ring didn't give it away, Chad Kroeger really loves Avril Lavigne.
Lavigne played a secret show produced by Talent Resources and CEO Mike Heller at The Viper Room in West Hollywood on Thursday to over 2,000 people – including Jack Osbourne – and Kroeger couldn't have been more proud.
"Chad was extremely supportive throughout the evening," an onlooker tells PEOPLE. "He was rocking out to Avril's performance, dancing and singing along like no one was watching. He was solely focused on Avril."

Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger are both musicians, so it only makes sense they'd sing at their wedding – or not.
"I don't want to feel like I'm working at [it], because I'll be like thinking about how I – Okay, I've got to sing, so I've got to perform," Lavigne, 28, whose engagement was announced to PEOPLE in August, tells ET Canada.
"I think that we'll just kind of play a song that's maybe a song we wrote together as our first dance song, I don't know."

Avril Lavigne and Nickelback's Chad Kroeger opened up to Ryan Seacrest on Tuesday about their engagement and upcoming nuptials – where the singer revealed the groom is in the dark about some of the wedding details.
"It's going to be quite spectacular, and there's a theme to it," Lavigne said during an interview on KIIS-FM's On-Air with Ryan Seacrest Tuesday. "We're going pretty big, but Chad doesn't even know everything."
Lavigne demurred when Seacrest pushed for details on the date, but she did reveal that the roots of their love affair, which began in the studio while Kroeger worked with Lavigne on songs from her forthcoming album, will play a role in the nuptials.
"I'm going to take the lyrics from the sheet music from one of our songs and wrap it around the wedding cake," she told Ryan, while Kroeger gave a look of genuine surprise.

Chad Kroeger Opens Up About Engagement to Avril Lavigne

It's been three weeks since Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger wowed the world with the happy news of their surprise engagement. But one person who isn't paying attention to everyone else's reaction is the Nickelback rocker himself.
"I try not to take too much interest in the world's opinion of our relationship," Kroeger, 37, tells PEOPLE. "I just know the both of us are very happy."
Lavigne, 27, and Kroeger met earlier this year while collaborating on music for her forthcoming album. Their professional relationship took a turn this summer when they started dating on July 1 – which happens to be a special day for both Canadian megastars.
"We think it's very cool that our anniversary will always be on Canada Day," Kroeger says. "We can't wait to start our life together."

Avril Lavigne and Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger's relationship has been so quiet that few even knew they were dating. Now, after a six-month courtship, the Canadian rockers are engaged to be married, Lavigne's rep tells PEOPLE exclusively.
Lavigne, 27, and Kroeger, 37, first got together in February to co-write a song for Lavigne's upcoming fifth studio album.
"A romantic relationship blossomed as they spent time writing together," a Lavigne pal tells PEOPLE.
On Aug. 8, Kroeger popped the question, presenting Lavigne with a 14-carat diamond sparkler.

Nickelback Singer Convicted of Drunk Driving

Chad Kroeger, the lead singer for the rock band Nickelback, was convicted of drunk driving in Vancouver on Tuesday, the Associated Press reports.
The charges stem from an early morning arrest in Surrey, British Columbia on June 22, 2006. Kroeger was pulled over by police for driving his Lamborghini 100 m.p.h. through a residential neighborhood. Police say that Kroeger's eyes appeared red and glossy, and that he handed the officer a credit card when asked for his driver's license.
During the trial, Kroeger's attorney petitioned that the Breathalyzer test – Kroeger blew a .14, almost twice the legal limit of .08 – be thrown out. The judge overruled the motion, and the results were admitted into evidence.
Kroeger was not in court when the verdict was read, but the judge wants him to appear for the May 1 sentencing. He faces a one-year suspension of his license and a $600 fine.
