Chad Lowe Says Daughter Mabel Is 'Beloved'

There hasn't been a girl born to Rob and Chad Lowe’s family in almost four generations, but that all changed with the birth of Chad’s 5-month-old daughter Mabel in May.
"You can imagine the position she's in," Chad Lowe told PEOPLE at Saturday’s Children’s Institute Hosts Poker for a Cause in Commerce, Calif. "She is the only girl. It is the first Lowe girl born in 72 years. She's got a lot of doting uncles and cousins. She is beloved."
As for older brother Rob as an uncle? "He's great. The cousins are great, his boys [John, 13, and Matthew, 16]," Lowe adds.

It's a girl for Chad Lowe and his girlfriend, producer Kim Painter, the actor's rep confirms to PEOPLE.
Daughter Mabel Painter Lowe made her debut on Saturday in Los Angeles. "Everybody is healthy and happy," says the rep.
The couple announced the pregnancy in January, with Lowe explaining that Painter revealed the baby news to him with a grin. "She woke up with a very big smile on her face and I knew exactly what that meant," the Emmy-winning actor, 41, told Access Hollywood.
Lowe and Painter began dating in January 2007. Mabel is the first child for the couple.

Emmy winning actor Chad Lowe is about to embrace a new role: Dad.
Lowe, who split from ex wife Hilary Swank in 2007, will welcome a baby with producer Kim Painter in early summer, his rep said in a statement, adding "The couple is overjoyed and could not be happier."
Last year, Lowe told PEOPLE that his relationship with Painter and his gig on 24 helped him get through "a very dark period" after his split from Swank.
