Channing Tatum on Stripping: I Was a 'Fool in a Stupid Outfit'
Originally posted 05/22/2012 03:15PM
Matthew McConaughey and Joe Manganiello joke around about what went into preparing for their roles as strippers in Magic Mike – but Channing Tatum, who actually worked as one in real life, says there really wasn't anything fun about it.
"You're just a guy taking off his clothes, looking like a fool in a stupid outfit," Tatum, 32, tells Out magazine in its June/July cover story.
The toughest part for the actor was the actual removing of the clothing.

Matthew McConaughey Didn't Use a 'Stunt A––' in Magic Mike
Originally posted 05/17/2012 08:50AM
When Matthew McConaughey gets cheeky in his new movie, Magic Mike, rest assured, it's definitely him.
"That's all me up there," the actor tells the Advocate in a new interview of (mostly) baring it all in his striptease scene. "I don't need a stunt a––."
As for the exposure, the actor says he just wanted to go for it.
"I said, 'I gotta dance, man.' I would regret it for the rest of my life if I was in a male stripper movie and didn't get up there and strip myself," he says, noting that his big scene wasn't initially in the script. "At first it was scary as hell, but then it became like a drug and I couldn't wait to do it again."

Joe Manganiello's Biggest Magic Mike Challenge? Wearing a Thong!
Originally posted 04/28/2012 05:00PM
For True Blood's Joe Manganiello, playing a stripper for the upcoming movie Magic Mike meant wearing a thong for the first time.
"I wore these little thongs that literally go up your butt, and it definitely takes getting used to," Manganiello, 35, told PEOPLE at the IWC Schaffhausen watch boutique opening in New York.
"It was uncomfortable at first. It sort of felt like a wedgie," he said, "but once you get into the routine of wearing one, you know what to do and you just do your thing. We all had to suffer a bit for our craft."

Channing Tatum's 32nd Birthday Present? A Surprise, Dancing Flash Mob!
Originally posted 04/27/2012 06:30PM
Channing Tatum's 32nd birthday packed quite the (musical) surprise.
The Magic Mike star thought he was meeting his pals for a mellow birthday dinner on Thursday night at Southern Hospitality BBQ Restaurant in N.Y.C. – but, instead, it turned into an all-out dance party.
"Jenna Dewan surprised him with a choreographed flash mob," a source tells PEOPLE. After the actor arrived, "I've Had the Time of My Life" from Dirty Dancing began to play. Explains the source: "Much to his surprise, the nearby tables of what he thought were restaurant patrons jumped up, ripped off their regular shirts to reveal 'Happy Birthday Channing' tees and began dancing."
According to the source, the actor looked "completely surprised." And, mid-song, he grabbed Jenna and lifted her over his head, parallel to the floor – "just like the famous final scene in the movie," the source says.

Channing Tatum Puts on a (Shirtless) Show in Magic Mike Trailer
Originally posted 04/19/2012 10:35AM
For a movie about male strippers, the trailer for Magic Mike (watch below) offers an appropriately tantalizing tease – and allows Channing Tatum to show off the moves he perfected in that line of work once upon a time.
From the moment it begins, the trailer is the Channing show, as he leads costar Alex Pettyfer into an all-girl party dressed as police officers.
Soon, we see Tatum, 31 – as the title character – grinding, break-dancing, flipping and spinning on stage at a strip club, putting on a bravura performance for an adoring crowd. (Only later does it become clear that he's conflicted about his career.)

21 Jump Street Will Please Old Fans, Win New Ones: Review
Originally posted 03/15/2012 10:45AM
Either you're old, like me, and were aghast at the idea of someone defiling your beloved Jump Street. Or you're young (i.e., born after the ’87 launch of the TV series that made Johnny Depp a star) and your reaction was closer to, "What's 21 Jump Street?"
Good news, graybeards and whippersnappers: This is a movie we all can dig.
The new Jump Street borrows the same conceit as the old – babyfaced cops go back to high school to narc on naughty kids – but torques it into a ridiculously inappropriate comedy.
The secret is the Mutt-and-Jeff pairing of Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill as the narcs. Tatum is Jenko, the hot cop to Hill's Schmidt, the smart one. They're both stunned when they enroll in school to bust a drug ring, only to find that cliques have changed and Schmidt's the popular one now.

Channing Tatum, Jonah Hill: Real-Life Bro-Mance
Originally posted 03/14/2012 03:30PM
Who's at the center of Hollywood's hottest bro-mance? Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum, that's who – or, perhaps they should now be referred to as, "Joning?"
The two actors admit they definitely bonded while shooting their new film 21 Jump Street, and at Tuesday's Grauman's Chinese Theater premiere they unabashedly reveled in the qualities they admire most in each other.
"I've never met anyone like Jonah that can go in and literally win an entire room and get away with just about anything," Tatum, 31, tells PEOPLE.
"It's like he could punch somebody in the face and somehow he would keep him laughing about it – he's like, 'It's fine. It's fine. I just punched you in the face. It's cool. Don't even worry.' And they would just laugh about it."
