Coldplay Accused of Plagiarism – Again
Originally posted 05/04/2009 10:00AM
British rocker Chris Martin is under fire again, this time over claims that his band Coldplay has plagiarized another musician's work.
Yusuf Islam, better known as '70s' rocker Cat Stevens, claims his song "Foreigner Suite" is behind the band's recent hit, "Viva La Vida," reports Britain's Sun.
"There's been this argument about Coldplay stealing this melody from Joe Satriani, but, if you listen to it, it's mine!" says Stevens, 60, who now goes by his Muslim name. "It's the 'Foreigner Suite.' "

Inside the All-Star MusiCares Tribute to Neil Diamond
Originally posted 02/07/2009 02:00PM
The night was a tribute to Neil Diamond, but it was Jennifer Hudson's moving take on his 1969 hit "Holly Holy" that brought down the house.
Wearing a gold jacket and black satin pantsuit, Hudson – backed by three singers – was serious and soulful in her powerful performance, which drew cheers from the audience three times during the song, especially when she hit high notes with a lot of vibrato.
The Los Angeles Convention Center audience of more than 1,500 immediately rose to its feet in a standing ovation as she mouthed the words "thank you" and took a small bow. As she looked up and saw the entire room standing and clapping, a look of genuine surprise came over her face, and her mouth fell open. She again mouthed the words "thank you," and waved to the crowd in appreciation.

Gwyneth Paltrow Shakes Off Rocky Marriage Rumors
Originally posted 02/03/2009 08:00AM
Praising her Coldplay rocker husband Chris Martin for his loyalty, Gwyneth Paltrow also says that her marriage is just fine, thank you.
Speaking to the U.K. edition of Elle, Paltrow admits that she cannot listen to Coldplay's "Swallowed in the Sea" "without crying," because it helped her cope with the loss of her father, Bruce Paltrow, whose October 2002 death left her devastated and depressed.
"It's so hard for me to listen to some of those songs," the Oscar winner says of "Swallowed" and "Fix You." As for Martin, "I'm amazed he stuck with me [at the time her dad died], because I was a wreck. I can't believe that he did."

Why Jazmine Sullivan Is Excited About Her 5 Grammy Nods
Originally posted 12/04/2008 04:15PM
When five-time Grammy nominee Jazmine Sullivan hits the awards show for the
first time this year, she plans to make a beeline for one band only: Coldplay.
"I am so excited to meet them!" Sullivan tells PEOPLE. "I actually want to
do a song with Chris Martin, so maybe somebody will introduce me to him, or
I can slip him an album and he can listen!"
The R&B songstress, who earned the highly-coveted best new artist nod,
still can't believe her good fortune. "When they called the Jonas Brothers,
I started getting nervous. I was like, 'Man ... they're huge!' I didn't even
know they were new artists!"
But with mom right by her side – "I must have grabbed her arm so hard she
probably still has red marks!" – she learned she had actually received not
just one, but five nominations. "It was surreal," says the Philly-native,
who texted mentor Missy Elliott as soon as she heard. "I've been working for
this my whole life and to see it finally pay off is just wonderful."

It's the British Invasion: Take Two!
Coldplay's Viva la Vida was the best-selling album on iTunes for 2008, the music downloading service has announced. The album featuring frontman Chris Martin (a.k.a. Mr. Gwyneth Paltrow) has sold more than 2 million copies since being released in June – and has sold more than 500,000 digitally, the Associated Press reports.
Another Brit, Leona Lewis, claimed the year's top-selling single with her addictively catchy hit "Bleeding Love."
According to iTunes, she edged out Coldplay's title track (which came in at No. 2), followed by Flo Rida's "Low," Katy Perry's "I Kissed a Girl" and Rihanna's "Disturbia."

Gwyneth Paltrow: 'My London'
Originally posted 10/06/2008 02:30PM
Gwyneth Paltrow isn't greedy when it comes to London's good eats.
In fact, the actress, 36, who spends the school year in the city with her family – husband/rocker Chris Martin, daughter Apple, 4, and Moses, 2 – is more than hungry - err, happy, to share her input on some of the London's best restaurants, pubs, and hotels.
"Moving to a foreign city for part of the year has been incredible and continues to be a great experience,” Paltrow writes in the latest edition of her GOOP newsletter. "When nothing is familiar, you are constantly observing, asking questions and discovering."

Coldplay Returns to the Stage
Originally posted 06/17/2008 03:10PM
Kelly Osbourne, Stella McCartney – and of course, Gwyneth Paltrow – were among the 5,000 fans in London singing their way through Coldplay's first live show since 2006.
"Thanks for coming to see us after such a long time!" lead singer Chris Martin told the crowd Monday, alternately skipping, dancing and twirling around the Brixton Academy stage.
Martin's wife Paltrow stayed hidden from the audience (and photographers). She previously turned up at the band's rehearsal-with-friends-and-family-show at Wembley Arena June 13, where she sang along to every word of the 90-minute performance.

Chris Martin Admits 'I Had a Tricky Time With Girls'
Originally posted 06/12/2008 03:25PM
Sure, Chris Martin is a big rock star married to one of Hollywood’s top A-list actresses, but he was never a ladies man, he admits.
"I had a tricky time with girls until I was, like, 21," the Coldplay frontman, 31, who married Oscar-winner Gwyneth Paltrow in 2003, reveals in the latest issue of Rolling Stone.
"I got trapped in the friendship trap many, many times," he says. "It was like, 'I need to be a rock star because this is no good: Being the kind of guy that everybody likes but no one wants to [sleep with].' "
Instead, he wanted "to be the guy that everybody" has sex with.
