Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin famously keep their relationship under wraps, but the elusive couple made a rare public appearance Tuesday in the name of art – and friendship.
Paltrow, 41, and Martin, 36 – who celebrate their 10-year wedding anniversary next month – walked arm in arm through the Los Angeles Natural History Museum to view works by their good friend Rob Reynolds at the opening of his exhibition celebrating the 100th anniversary of the L.A. Aqueduct.
An eyewitness says the couple – parents to Apple, 9, and Moses, 7 – were "clearly enjoying each other's company" as they laughed, drank and chatted with fellow guests, including Jack Black and his wife, Tanya Haden.

Gwyneth Paltrow has reached the point where she could not care less what her detractors think of her – a defiance she punctuates with expletives several times in a frank new interview.
"The older I get, I realize it doesn't matter what people who don't know you think. It doesn't matter. You're wasting your energy," PEOPLE's 2013 Most Beautiful Woman tells the British magazine Red's December issue.
"It's like, if your partner comes to you – or your best friend – and says, 'Listen, I want to talk about something you did that hurt me, or I think you could improve,' sit down and listen to what they have to say. But some friend of so-and–sos – it's like, who gives a s–––?"

The British actor Simon Pegg is godfather to Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow's 9-year-old daughter Apple. In turn, Martin is godfather to Pegg's 4-year-old daughter Matilda.
It's been a joy, Pegg tells PEOPLE, but sometimes difficult to reciprocate certain gestures.
"[Chris] sang a song for [Matilda] in Berlin when she was born," Pegg said, with still-apparent awe, last week at the Los Angeles premiere of his latest film, The World's End. "He dedicated one of the songs, and I was really chuffed about it."

She may be PEOPLE's 2013 Most Beautiful Woman but Gwyneth Paltrow insists her kids, Apple, 8, and Moses, 7, don't see her as anything but mom.
"Around the house, I'm in jeans and a T-shirt. I don't really wear makeup. That's what they're used to," she says. As for her husband, Chris Martin, "He'll make a joke about it. If I've gotten fully dressed up, he'll be like, 'Oh, wow! You're Gwyneth Paltrow!' Because he's used to seeing me in like baggy shorts and frizzy hair."
And Paltrow wouldn't have it any other way. With her second cookbook, It's All Good, debuting at No. 1 on the New York Times bestseller list and her next film, Iron Man 3, hitting theaters on May 3, Paltrow credits her workout routine for keeping her looking youthful and less tired.
