Two days after being found dead of an apparent heroin overdose, Philip Seymour Hoffman was remembered by his fellow actors with great admiration Tuesday during the Santa Barbara International Film Festival in California.
Jared Leto described Hoffman as "a brave and fearless genius" after accepting one of the festival's Virtuoso Awards, which he dedicated to Hoffman.
"Someone who was a compass for us all, and someone who will really be missed," Leto said when answering questions about his Academy-Award-nominated role in Dallas Buyer's Club.

Without question, the Oct. 9 episode of NCIS: L.A. is the mother of all mysteries.
While the team tracks down a suspect in a casino, four women – portrayed by the lead actors' real-life mothers – are playing poker.
When executive producer Shane Brennan e-mailed the CBS drama’s stars with the idea, "I thought it was a joke," Chris O’Donnell says. "When I found out he was serious, I was excited to call my mom. I knew this would be the biggest deal for her."
It was a thrill for the actors as well. "It was fun getting to work and seeing her in hair and makeup," Eric Christian Olsen says of having his mother, Jeanne, on-set.

Maeve Binchy, the popular Irish author who sold more than 40 million books worldwide and penned Circle of Friends, has died after a brief illness, reports BBC News. She was 72.
During her illustrious career, Binchy wrote 16 novels, four collections of short stories, a play and a novella.
Her books, which have been featured on The New York Times bestseller list and as part of Oprah's Book Club, have been translated into 37 languages.

Chris O'Donnell and his wife, Caroline, have welcomed their fifth child, daughter Maeve Frances O'Donnell.
"Everyone's happy," the actor's rep tells PEOPLE. "Mother and baby are doing great."
Maeve was 8 lbs. and 21½ inches long when she was born Dec. 10 in Los Angeles. She joins sister Lily, 8, and brothers Chip, 7; Charlie, 4; Finley, 1.
