Justin Timberlake sure has a way with the ladies. Just ask Ciara.
The sexy songstress was experiencing butterflies in her stomach right before stepping onstage for her first-ever Saturday Night Live performance last weekend – until Timberlake cracked a joke.
"My heart was beating so fast," the R&B diva, 23, tells PEOPLE exclusively. "Everything is so fast-moving there. You just start freaking out."
Enter the hero. "Before I went on," says Ciara, "he made me laugh, which made things light and not so serious. It just felt like, 'We're gonna have a good time.' We had a lot of fun. We're silly together."

Justin Timberlake Gets an Ear-Licking in New Ciara Video

The sexed-up video for Ciara's first single "Love, Sex, Magic" from her third album Fantasy Ride, out May 5th, debuted Monday on her Web site. Last seen grinding against Chris Brown during their performance at the 2008 BET Awards, Ciara now gets a little help from Justin Timberlake in the Diane Martel-directed video.
Timberlake, who co-wrote the track, makes a cameo with the R&B diva, who rocks an array of leotards and stilettos. He traces her neck with his lips before she seductively licks his ear and performs a smoothly choreographed lap dance. "It was sooo much fun," says Ciara.

Ciara Admits: Athletes Get Me Going

While some singers find inspiration from music legends, Ciara says she looks toward icons with a little more muscle.
"I take my motivation from athletes – basketball players in particular," the R&B songstress, 23, tells Men's Health magazine in its November 2008 issue.
And there are a few NBA stars whom she finds especially inspiring.
"I love LeBron James because he's my age and full of ambition and drive," she reveals. Also, "I love Michael Jordan … there was so much pressure, but he pulled through every time. That energy motivates me."

The bash – complete with a sparkler-topped chocolate cake and a bottle of Cristal – came on top of previous fetes in Washington, D.C., Atlanta and New York (where she held two separate soirées). So what's with all the repeat performances?

They may appear in a steamy music video for her single "Can't Leave 'Em Alone," but don't get the wrong idea: Ciara and 50 cent are, as she puts it, "good friends, absolutely."
"He's a really great friend, and great friends think of really great [birthday presents]," Ciara told PEOPLE at her 22nd birthday party at Manhattan's Nikki Midtown on Thursday night, though she wouldn't reveal what he gave her. "For some reason, with this friend, everybody turns everything into something else!"
