Corinne Bailey Rae Sets New Album Release Date

Corinne Bailey Rae is set to sail on a new journey in her career with the release of her new album The Sea on Feb. 2, it was announced Thursday.

The singer, 30, whose husband Jason was found dead in March 2008, has spoken of how she has channeled her grief into some of the new songs.

"I hope you guys will like it and be into it," she says in a video on her Web site. The Leeds-based singer also says she co-produced the new record and promises "some hints" of the new work and behind-the-scenes footage will come to the site.

Rae's 2006 debut song "Put Your Records On" sold 4 million copies. Prior to the February release of her album, she will perform some new shows in the U.S., as well as a Nov. 23 London concert.

Corinne Bailey Rae Channels Grief in New Set of Songs

Singer Corinne Bailey Rae is using music to help her move though the grief of losing her husband Jason – spending much of this year gradually returning to work, writing and quietly playing low-key gigs.

Her 2006 song Put Your Records On was a massive hit, and now the young widow says she feels "impassioned" about her new songs and wants to pass that feeling on to her audience. "I don't think there is anyone of my generation saying these things, singing about these things," she tells the U.K.'s Observer Music Monthly.

She adds: "And it happens, you know. It can happen to anyone at any time. I want to be out there on stage with my hands out going, does anyone else feel the same way?"

There were a few colorful kilts among the sea of black, as more than 100 family and friends – including Corinne Bailey Rae – paid respects for Scottish-born saxophonist Jason Rae at his funeral in Leeds, England, on Wednesday, the U.K.'s The Daily Mail reports.

Rae, 31, who was a member of the eight-piece group Haggis Horns and had played with such singers as Amy Winehouse, died earlier this month of a suspected overdose. His body was found in a friend's flat.

British soul singer Corinne Bailey Rae, whose husband, saxophonist Jason Rae, was found dead in the couple's home last weekend, has issued a statement expressing her gratitude to those who have extended their sympathy.

Though her manager, Bob Miller, it was stated, "Corinne Bailey Rae and her family have been touched by the huge amount of love and support that's flooded in from all over the world, and that is really helping all of us cope at this terrible time.

"Corinne is also very grateful for the privacy she is being given and the respect that has been paid to herself and Jason."

Inquest Begins into the Death of Corinne Bailey Rae's Husband

A coroner opened the official inquest into the death of saxophonist Jason Rae, the husband of Grammy-nominated singer Corinne Bailey Rae, on Thursday.

The 31-year-old musician was found dead Saturday afternoon at an apartment in the English city of Leeds.

The examining pathologist came to the preliminary conclusion the Rae had died from a suspected drugs overdose, he told the coroner during Thursday's hearing, a British wire service reports.

A spokesperson for the West Yorkshire Police told PEOPLE there was no set time-frame for probe.

Corinne Bailey Rae's Husband Found Dead

The husband of British soul singer Corinne Bailey Rae was found dead in an apartment in Leeds, England, the BBC reports.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said officers were called to the home where they found saxophonist Jason Rae, 31, Saturday afternoon.

In connection with the case, a 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of supplying controlled drugs, and was since released on bail, according to police.

Reports say that Rae was the victim of a suspected overdose, however, results of a post mortem exam were inconclusive. Police are awaiting the results of a toxicology report, according to the BBC.

Rae had been scheduled to play a gig with his band The Haggis Horns at the HiFi Club in Leeds Sunday. The show has been canceled.
