John Stamos is having the time of his life in Broadway's The Best Man – but his character, ruthless presidential candidate Joseph Cantwell, is about as far a cry from Uncle Jesse as you can get.
"It's one of the hardest things, to be a bastard for two hours and 40 minutes," Stamos tells PEOPLE. "It's exhausting."
"I'm not used to that as an actor, to make people not like me," he says. "I spent 30 years doing the opposite! But I know that I'm not doing the piece justice or the character justice if I don't lean into making him the snake that he is."

It appears Cybill Shepherd has found the one!
The Client List star, 62, is engaged to jeweler-turned-psychologist Andrei Nikolajevic, she tells New York's Daily News.
Until her recent engagement, Shepherd – who was formerly married to David Ford and Bruce Oppenheim – ruled out the possibility of finding a permanent life partner.
"I never thought I'd get married again," the former Moonlighting and Cybill star tells the paper, adding that Nicolajevic's proposal was, "Very romantic and on one knee."

Cybill Shepherd's son, Cyrus Zacharia Shepherd-Oppenheim, will enroll in a pretrial diversion program after he was arrested in January for allegedly trying to rob sleeping passengers on an overnight flight from San Francisco to Philadelphia.
Shepherd-Oppenheim, whose father is Cybill Shepherd's ex-husband Bruce Oppenheim, appeared in Philadelphia Municipal Court on Tuesday, according to local reports. Prosecutors say his record will be cleared if he abides by all conditions of the program, which is designed for first-time offenders.
The student at the University of Pennsylvania, 22, was charged with stealing a camera, cash and other items from passengers' carry-on luggage. Another hearing is scheduled for June 4.
