How Dakota Fanning Balances Hollywood and High School
Originally posted 05/31/2010 04:10PM
She may have started out a child actress, but Dakota Fanning hasn't given up one quintessential part of her teenage years: the prom.
"[I went with] a group of friends," the actress told PEOPLE while hosting the UCLA 5K Run/Walk on May 23 benefiting the Child Life/Child Development program at Mattel Children's Hospital. "I think you put more effort into getting ready before than actually you spend at the place. But it was so much fun."
Fanning, 16, currently a junior and a varsity cheerleader at an L.A. high school, says she's "lucky" to be able to have a movie career while going to school – where she isn't treated differently because of her Hollywood status.

Kristen Stewart: Smooching Dakota Fanning Was 'Cool'
Originally posted 03/11/2010 04:15PM
Kristen Stewart has never had a problem getting close with her costars. She's been romantically linked with Twilight's Robert Pattinson, is great pals with Taylor Launter and has formed a bond with Dakota Fanning, who stars in The Runaways with her.
"Working this closely with someone, you can't help but really become bonded with them and it really helps when you actually like them and can become really good friends," Stewart said Wednesday during a press day for the movie about the '70s all-girl’s band in which Stewart plays rocker Joan Jett and Fanning, singer Cherie Currie.
"I haven't really done a lot of movies with people close to my own age to have a good friend like that," she said. "So I was excited, and I couldn't have asked for a better person to do it with."

Originally posted 01/24/2010 02:15PM
It was one rockin' night in Park City, Utah, on Saturday when Joan Jett & The Blackhearts hit the stage at the Harry O's Concert Series.
In town lending her support to The Runaways, the biopic about Jett's '70s band The Runaways, the singer took the stage in a one-piece sequined leotard and sneakers.
But it wasn't her fashion choice that got the crowd going – it was special guests Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning, who star in the movie premiering at the Sundance Film Festival.

Kristen Stewart rolled with vampires and werewolves in New Moon, but she's belting out "Cherry Bomb" in the trailer for the upcoming Joan Jett biopic, The Runaways.
Alongside New Moon costar Dakota Fanning as lead singer Cherie Currie, Stewart plays the famed guitarist in the film, which depicts the 1970s all-girl band's meteoric rise and fall.
"She's an actress of weight, honesty, integrity and depth, and she's very serious," Jett told MTV at the premiere of New Moon in November. "She takes it as art."
This isn't the only post-Twilight role for Stewart: she's also rocking a southern accent for the indie drama, The Yellow Handkerchief.
