• Dakota Fanning celebrated her sweet 16th birthday with a sophisticated dinner party at Villa Blanca in Beverly Hills. The actress, whose big day is Feb. 23, was joined by 40 guests, including girlfriends from her cheerleading squad and her longtime private teacher. "Dakota looked adorable in a white blouse with a sequined, silver skirt and high heels," an eyewitness tells us. After guests sang "Happy Birthday," Fanning blew out the candles and thanked everyone for joining her for the Mediterranean-inspired dinner. Party guest Cherie Currie – whom Fanning plays in The Runaways – gave the actress a guitar sculpture, which she carved from a solid piece of wood. Says the eyewitness: "She seemed very excited and touched about celebrating her special day with her family and friends."

It was one rockin' night in Park City, Utah, on Saturday when Joan Jett & The Blackhearts hit the stage at the Harry O's Concert Series.

In town lending her support to The Runaways, the biopic about Jett's '70s band The Runaways, the singer took the stage in a one-piece sequined leotard and sneakers.

But it wasn't her fashion choice that got the crowd going – it was special guests Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning, who star in the movie premiering at the Sundance Film Festival.

VIDEO: Kristen Stewart Sings in The Runaways Trailer

Originally posted 12/17/2009 03:25PM

Kristen Stewart rolled with vampires and werewolves in New Moon, but she's belting out "Cherry Bomb" in the trailer for the upcoming Joan Jett biopic, The Runaways.

Alongside New Moon costar Dakota Fanning as lead singer Cherie Currie, Stewart plays the famed guitarist in the film, which depicts the 1970s all-girl band's meteoric rise and fall.

"She's an actress of weight, honesty, integrity and depth, and she's very serious," Jett told MTV at the premiere of New Moon in November. "She takes it as art."

This isn't the only post-Twilight role for Stewart: she's also rocking a southern accent for the indie drama, The Yellow Handkerchief.

New Moon Mania: What's Next for the Cast?

New Moon Mania: What's Next for the Cast?

Originally posted 11/24/2009 08:25AM

The Twilight Saga: New Moon made an astounding $140.7 million in box office earnings over the weekend, and the film's young cast is no doubt celebrating – but they're hardly taking a breather. A guide to what's next for the series and its stars:

• What's up with Kristen Stewart's next movie?
The actress otherwise known as Bella, 19, has been busy with non-Twilight projects. She stars as (another!) troubled teen in the New Orleans-set drama The Yellow Handkerchief, due Feb. 12. And she'll also appear in Welcome to the Rileys, a drama in which she plays a lap dancer, as well as the Joan Jett biopic The Runaways, headlining as the famed rocker alongside her New Moon costar Dakota Fanning.

• Where's the best place for fans looking to get their Team Edward and Team Jacob fixes?
New Moon audiences got a sneak peek of Robert Pattinson's next film, Remember Me, which opens March 12. (He plays a wayward college student opposite Lost's Emilie de Ravin.) And Twilight's Edward, 23, is attached to two other upcoming projects: Unbound Captives, a western costarring Hugh Jackman, and Bel Ami, a drama about an ambitious journalist who becomes involved with a Paris socialite, played by Uma Thurman). As for a certain sexy werewolf, Taylor Lautner, 17, appears (minus the fur and fangs but with his real-life sweetie Taylor Swift!) in the ensemble romantic comedy Valentine’s Day, opening Feb. 12.

• Are the sparks still flying between Kristen and Rob?

Prepare to be scared.

In New Moon, the second installment in Stephenie Meyer's wildly popular Twilight saga, readers are first introduced to the ancient ruling class of vampires known as the Volturi. Determined to capture their creepy menace for his screen version opening Nov. 20, New Moon director Chris Weitz has given them custom-crafted blood-red eyes.

"They're all hand-painted, specially manufactured contacts," Weitz tells PEOPLE. "They're opaque red, almost like preying mantis eyes. You can't really see into them. There's something terribly off-putting about it."

In Canada to film their interior scenes – they'll be shooting exteriors in Italy later this month – the trio are staying at the same hotel as costar Kristen Stewart and Selena Gomez, who is there shooting Beezus and Ramona.
