David Arquette Helps Feed America

Originally posted 09/01/2009 06:00PM

David Arquette is happily giving a new meaning to the phrase, "Let them eat cake." On Monday, the actor donned a chef's coat and spent the afternoon doling out cheesecake for his favorite charity, Feeding America.

Arquette paid a special visit to the sets of ABC's Cougar Town and Scrubs to help launch the organization's "Drive Out Hunger" campaign. The 37-year-old eagerly manned his station, accepting canned food donations from the cast members of both shows, while rewarding them with massive slices of The Cheesecake Factory's decadent Red Velvet Cheesecake.

"It's sort of my philosophy, 'Whatever you can do, you do,' "Arquette told PEOPLE. "It's all about just being a good person."

For the past year, Arquette has taken a hands-on approach in the effort to stamp out hunger in America, volunteering twice a week at Los Angeles-area food pantries.

Fans have long hoped that the cast of the popular Scream franchise would once again open that door and see what is behind it.

Well, their wait is almost over. Courteney Cox Arquette, 45, and husband David Arquette, 37, have agreed to do a fourth installment of the slasher gorefest, according to E! Online.

For the couple, the return is a trip down memory lane. "I fell in love with my wife on Scream," Arquette said. "It's just going to be really fun."

Writer Kevin Williamson is also returning, but no word yet whether Wes Craven, who directed the previous three films as well as such classics as A Nightmare on Elm Street, will also sign up.

It's not only the stars turning out for the history-making inauguration of Barack Obama – they're bringing along their children.

Terri Hatcher walked the red carpet holding hands with her daughter, Emerson Rose, at Sunday's Huffington Post gala at the Newseum. "I'm really excited," said Emerson, 11. "It's just, like, so amazing how history's being made right now. It's really important."

Added her mom: "Whether we're standing a mile away and actually see anything or not, I feel like it's a day she'll remember sharing with me 20 years from now."

Jennifer Aniston met up with friends David and Courteney Cox Arquette and their 4-year-old daughter Coco Wednesday for their annual Christmas Eve dinner at Mastro's Steakhouse in Beverly Hills.

"Jen and Courteney chatted non-stop," a source tells PEOPLE. "Jen was also very sweet to Coco and the two giggled together."

While Aniston's beau John Mayer remained on the East coast, Aniston – dressed in black and smiling from ear to ear – joined the Arquettes and a few other friends in the restaurant's private dining room, which overlooks the kitchen, and features a rhinestone chandelier.

David Arquette "Feeding America"

David Arquette is passionate about fighting poverty, and as the holiday season arrives, the actor has taken to MySpace to discuss a chartable initiative close to his heart.

The actor is supporting the "Fill a Bowl, Feed America" campaign. In a new video, Arquette explains how you can contribute to the fight against hunger and leads a tour of a downtown Los Angeles food bank.

"One of the big misconceptions is that hunger is a problem for the homeless," the actor says. "But most of the people in the lines are seniors living on a fixed income or working Americans – sometimes working two or three jobs – and still they have to make decisions when it comes to paying their utility bills or buying food."

David Arquette says he loves to cook for his 4-year-old daughter Coco – and she loves to eat.

"She's a really good eater!” the proud father told PEOPLE at the Venice, Calif., Boys and Girls Club, where he was serving free meals to needy children Wednesday. "She'll eat vegetables – she loves broccoli and shrimp and chicken. [And] she likes Honey Nut Cheerios."

Because he and wife Courteney Cox Arquette both have busy Hollywood schedules, mornings usually are reserved for him and Coco. "I always typically cook breakfast, because we hang out in the morning a lot," he said.
