Brooke Burke-Charvet Refuses to Say 'Fat' Or 'Diet' in Front of Her Kids

A healthy home is a happy home for Brooke Burke-Charvet.
The mother of four kids – Neriah, 12, Sierra, 10, Rain, 6, and Shaya, 4 – hopes her lifestyle rubs off on them.
"I always tell other parents to lead by example," Burke-Charvet, 41, told PEOPLE on Tuesday. "My kids know I'm always working out and I love to cook. I'm always preparing healthy meals. I think it's also about giving them healthy options, which is so, so important. My little ones, especially, grocery shop with me. They're in the kitchen. They love to cook."

In the midst of her thyroid diagnosis Brooke Burke-Charvet – a mother of four – has learned just how vulnerable children can be at such a time, and how differently each one can respond to that kind of stress and anxiety.
"I've really realized that everything I'm going through, my family is going through too," the Dancing with the Stars host, 41, writes in a new blog post.

Brooke Burke waited five years before marrying her hubby David Charvet, but she's wasting no time taking his last name.
"Tomorrow on Dancing with the Stars will be the first time I go by my new name [on TV]," the ABC show's host, 39, told PEOPLE at Sunday's Emmy Awards. "I'm happy about being Brooke Charvet."
Although the former Ms. Burke is excited about the change, not all people agree with her decision.

The planning that went into Brooke Burke and David Charvet's secret wedding in St. Barts on Aug. 12 was about as intricate as a routine on Dancing with the Stars.
"It is not often that you get to plan a very special occasion, and have it play out just as you imagined in your mind," Burke writes in a blog post for her parenting website, Modern Mom. "Even the weather was perfect."
Describing the wedding as a "secret mission," she adds, "We told no one – no friends, not even our mothers. … We broke the news to our children just days before our departure."

After a five-year engagement, two kids together and a hot and steamy relationship, Brooke Burke and David Charvet have officially tied the knot.
The Dancing with the Stars co-host, 39, wed her actor beau, also 39, in St. Barts on Friday, her rep confirms to PEOPLE.
On Saturday morning, Burke hinted at her happy news, Tweeting, "morning tweeties. Waiting for LA to wake up....big news to share."
The couple are parents to son Shaya, 3, and daughter Rain, 4½, while Burke is also mom to daughters Sierra, 9 and Neriah, 11, from her previous marriage to Garth Fisher.

"First, you need to be healthy," the Dancing with the Stars host, 39, tells Shape magazine in its January issue, on newsstands Dec. 20. "That means exercising to relieve stress and build energy. It truly is good for your sex drive to work out."
Second, she says, create a romantic mood with candles and sexy music on date night.
