Reaction shots are the (occasionally unintended) visual punchlines of award shows. For every tongue-in-cheek Martin Freeman reaction, there's a stone-faced Frances McDormand smash-cut for Twitter to crow over.

Just as horse racing has its Triple Crown, red-carpet season has its own impressive awards haul that only the boldest of films aspire to win: the "Big Five" at the Oscars.
Taking home a trophy in the Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Picture, Best Director and Best Screenplay categories is considered a "sweep" at the Academy Awards, and this year's contest has American Hustle vying for the honor.
In the 86-year history of the awards, 42 films have been nominated across the big five categories, with only three ever pulling off the sweep: 1934's It Happened One Night, 1975's One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and 1991's The Silence of the Lambs.
Up until this point, American Hustle has been nearly universally acclaimed, but its chances of leaving Hollywood's Dolby Theater as the winningest film of the night are still up for debate. Below, we break down the odds by category.

Christian Bale is known for losing weight for films roles. But this time, the Batman hunk has packed on a few lbs. to play a '70s con man turned FBI guy in his next movie.
The Oscar winner, 39, was seen with greasy hair and a protruding belly on the Massachusetts set of the untitled film – quite a sight next to his gorgeous costar Amy Adams.
It's a far cry from Bale's more chiseled days as the Caped Crusader, and even farther from his roles in The Fighter and The Machinist, for which he lost dramatic amounts of weight.

Having recently told Katie Couric during an interview that she does have a boyfriend, Jessica Chastain made what is apparently her first public appearance with him Friday night, at the Women in Film 6th annual Pre-Oscar Cocktail Party.
Arriving arm and arm together at Fig & Olive in Los Angeles, the Zero Dark Thirty Best Actress nominee and Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo sipped Perrier-Jouët Champagne in the main room before Chastain spotted her costar from last year's The Help, Viola Davis, and Davis's husband.
Chastain, 35, hugged and kissed the 31-year-old Passi, making it clear to all who saw them that the two are, in fact, a couple.

A person's favorite film says a lot about – especially when it's Oscar season.
Researchers at Facebook have found some interesting links between moviegoers' Oscar picks and their other interests.
For example, if you're rooting for David O. Russell's Silver Linings Playbook to take home Best Picture during Sunday's 85th Academy Awards, chances are your other interests on Facebook include Smarties (the candy!), musical acts LMFAO and Ke$ha and films like Wreck-It Ralph and Despicable Me.
