Kristen Bell Freaks Out After Receiving Her Birthday Present: a Sloth

Kristen Bell promises she had an amazing 31st birthday – even though she spent part of it weeping.
The star's fiancé, Dax Shepard, surprised her with a sloth at the couple's home, but before Bell could even meet the creature, she somehow sensed its presence.
"I immediately was overcome and thought, 'There's a sloth near,'" she told Ellen DeGeneres on Tuesday's episode of her talk show. "And I didn't know how to process that because my entire life had been waiting for this moment, where I would get to interact with a sloth."

Kristen Bell Is Relieved to Be Done with Dating

Some dread turning 30. Kristen Bell, on the other hand, discovered the birthday milestone was anything but daunting.
"I love 30 more than I've ever loved anything. I feel like I was born on my 30th birthday," the actress, who celebrated the big day on July 18, tells Parade magazine. "It's finally the time where I've fully accepted and loved myself, which I'm realizing more and more each day."
For a long time, Bell says she went through a phase where she beat herself up trying to be perfect. But, "I just thought, 'What's the point?' ... I'm not going to be as rough on myself as I used to ... I think now I'm just happy."

Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard had something even shinier than a Grammy to show off on the red carpet of the Staples Center Sunday night: her engagement ring.
The couple, who've been together for years and currently costar in the romantic comedy feature When in Rome, are getting married.
Bell's rep, Marcel Pariseau, confirms to PEOPLE: "Yes they are engaged. Over the holidays."
Shepard, 35, has been on the TV shows Punk'd, My Name Is Earl and the upcoming Parenthood. Bell, 29, is best known for her role on Heroes. Both hail from Michigan.

Let the other celebrities have their parties, clubs, and run-ins with the paparazzi. For Kristen Bell, nothing beats a night at home with boyfriend Dax Shepard over a good board game.
"There is almost nothing, barring a natural disaster, that I would let eat into my time at home, playing Scrabble with Dax or talking to my girlfriends," Bell, 29, tells Women's Health in its November issue, hitting newsstands Tuesday. "There's packing your day and then there's jam-packing your day, and I won't do it anymore. I need to decompress. I need to feel like I'm a person – a human being – first."
Of course, the couple, who've been together for years now, got to enjoy some of the comforts of home on the set when they filmed the movie When in Rome together.

Starring in the movie Baby Mama had its perks for Amy Poehler – like, making out with Dax Shepard.
"Dax is a gem – one of my closest friends," Poehler told PEOPLE at the comedy's premiere Wednesday night, as it kicked off the 7th annual Tribeca Film Festival in New York.
"A couple make-out scenes didn't make the [final cut], which I was upset about," noted the Saturday Night Live regular, 36.
But did Poehler's real-life husband, Will Arnett, grumble about her smooching with the sweet-faced Shepard – who plays her onscreen hubby? "Oh, they're good friends," she says. "He didn't mind."

• Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard, shopping together at kitschy T-shirt shop Y-Que on Vermont Ave. in Los Feliz, Calif. They walked in holding hands, and immediately started browsing the Los Angeles-themed shirts, hunting for ones featuring their favorite neighborhoods. When Bell finally found the "Studio City" shirt she'd been hunting for, she got really excited and the two celebrated with a very long kiss.
