American Idol's DeAndre Brackensick Excited for Prom

American Idol's DeAndre Brackensick says he's not going to return to regular classes at his high school, but he's looking forward to one teenage rite of passage: senior prom.

"I'm so glad I finally get to go to a prom that I'm going to actually enjoy," Brackensick told reporters after his elimination Thursday night. "Every dance I've ever had, I was either a ticket-taker or a coat-taker because I was just so uncomfortable with myself."

The 17-year-old San Jose native credits Idol with giving him the confidence boost he'll need to hit the dance floor at prom later this month – even if he doesn't yet have a date. "I'll just probably take one of my friends," he says.

American Idol's Deandre Brackensick Eliminated After '80s Night

Skylar Laine had her best performance so far – according to Randy Jackson – on American Idol Wednesday when she sang her '80s selection "Wind Beneath My Wings" and performed a duet with her competitor Colton Dixon.

On Thursday, the pair – along with the rest of season 11's top 8 contestants – faced another elimination.

But first, there was some business to take care of: Ryan Seacrest checked in with Joshua Ledet, who said he wasn't feeling well, and Jennifer Lopez's sexy new video with boyfriend Casper Smart debuted.

Ryan asked, "Was there any special chemistry on the set of this video with you and any of the dancers?" Jennifer blushed, giggled and dodged the question.

After an emotional night of stellar performances – which earned a record five standing ovations from the judges! – American Idol's top nine contestants faced another elimination night on Thursday.

The contestant with the lowest number of votes would have to sing for his or her life in an attempt to convince the judges into using their one save of the season.
