Denis Leary Gets a New, Darker Look

Famously blond Denis Leary has a surprising new look.
"When I see people they go, 'What's going on with your hair?' " the Rescue Me star, 50, told PEOPLE at the Leary Firefighter's Foundation Bash for New York's Bravest on Tuesday. "And I'm going, 'What?' I think they mean my hair's messed up."
It's not. It's just suddenly brunette for the movie he and Kevin Spacey are shooting: Recount, about the 2000 presidential election.

It's good to be a Desperate Housewife – just ask Eva Longoria, who tells us that the most mundane activities have been livened up by her newfound fame. "I'm sick right now, so yesterday I went to the grocery store to get chicken to make homemade chicken soup," she told us at a recent L.A. fund-raising event hosted by Frederick's of Hollywood. "I'd come from the set so I was in full hair and makeup, and I just wanted to go home. Four women stopped me in the poultry aisle and they were like, 'Aren't you on that show?' I was like, 'Yeah,' and because I'm so interested right now in what everybody thinks about the show, I was like, 'Well, do you like me? Do you really like me?' I probably kept them 20 minutes. They were like, 'Oh my God, that happened to me!' Not (referring to her character's affair) with the gardener, obviously. I wish that happened to everybody. But they were giving me examples of different things."

Kate & Goldie's Day Out

Mom-and-daughter pals Goldie Hawn and Kate Hudson enjoyed a recent afternoon together in New York's Greenwich Village, where we spotted them arm in arm, skipping along the sidewalk while shopping and visiting friends. Kate left pal Liv Tyler's apartment early in the afternoon, and then she and Goldie made a brief pit stop at one of their favorite Village eateries, Bar Pitti. The mother-daughter team – dressed like twins in tank tops, baggy khaki pants, flip-flops and big sunglasses – roamed the streets window-shopping for a few hours before Kate stopped into ABC Carpet and Home (Goldie waited outside). The close-knit, lookalike ladies lunched together again a few days later – this time with Hudson's hubby Chris Robinson and their 7-month-old baby, Ryder – at Barney's.

Planning to take in the American Idol tour this summer (kicking off July 14 in Salt Lake City)? Don't look for panelist Randy Jackson in the seat next to you. "This season, the singers were better, but I don't think I could sit through a performance" of the tour, Jackson, 47, tells us. "Let me tell you why: That medley in the last show, with (the contestants) wearing those lemon tops and white bottoms. I felt like I was inside some weird Gap ad. I was like, 'God! What is happening to the show? Get me out of here!' That was crazy."
