Sarah & Matthew Join a Roster of Celebs Using Surrogates
Originally posted 05/02/2009 11:45AM
Expanding their brood, Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick announced this week they are welcoming twin girls via a surrogate.
By not revealing any details about why they chose a surrogate, Parker, 44, and Broderick, 47, have left many of their well-wishing fans with questions.
For example, what is a surrogate? They are women, often with children of their own, who offer to carry the babies of couples who experience infertility. The most common variety, known as a gestational carrier, carries an embryo provided by the couple, and has no genetic relationship to the child in question (the womb-for-rent scenario). Other surrogates use sperm provided by the couple, but their own eggs.

Dennis Quaid, Julianne Moore Aim for White House
Originally posted 03/25/2009 10:05AM
They both walked the red carpet in the 1990s, so maybe Dennis Quaid and Julianne Moore will have an easier time acting as if they're at the Clinton White House.
The actors will portray Bill and Hillary Clinton in an HBO movie titled Special Relationship, Variety reports. The film, featuring Michael Sheen in yet another turn as former British prime minister Tony Blair – as he did in the 2006 movie The Queen – will focus on the political relationship between president and prime minister.
The film is to be directed by Peter Morgan, who also wrote The Queen. No start to filming or proposed airdate has been determined as yet.

Dennis Quaid Returns to Hospital – with Oprah's Crew
Originally posted 03/05/2009 03:20PM
Sixteen months after Dennis Quaid and his wife Kimberly rushed their newborn twins to the hospital – and three months after the couple reached a settlement with the facility for the accidental overdose of their babies – the actor returns to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles to see what measures have been secured so the mistake does not repeat itself.
And, this time, he's accompanied by a crew from The Oprah Winfrey Show, for an episode to air March 10.
"I [felt] like when you go to hospitals, before this incident, that I [would] be taken care of and everything's gonna be fine," Quaid, 54, tells Winfrey. "People know what they're doing. And they do for the most part. But mistakes happen. Errors occur all the time."

Dennis Quaid and his wife Kimberly have reached a settlement of $750,000 against Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for the accidental overdose of their newborn twins in 2007.
The agreement is pending the approval of a Los Angeles judge.
"The settlement is the result of extensive negotiations between the parties and their respective legal representatives, and is intended to avoid the time, expense and uncertainty of litigation," say papers filed in L.A. Superior Court on Monday.
An attorney for Quaid declined to comment.
Just two weeks after twins Thomas Boone and Zoe Grace were born in November 2007 via gestational carrier, they were accidentally given a massive overdose of the blood thinner Heparin, and spent days battling for their lives.
