Dierks Bentley Presents Baby's First Picture!

As new dad Dierks Bentley crosses the country to tour with buddy Brad Paisley this year, he tells PEOPLE he'll have more than music on his mind.

"There's no manual or blueprint for families who tour – I wish someone like Brad or Bono would write a book on how to make it work!" says the first-time father, who gives an exclusive peek at four-month-old daughter Evalyn Day in this month's PEOPLE Country Special.

Bentley had to leave wife, Cassidy, and baby Evie for the first time when he hit the road last month, but says touring with fellow dad Paisley makes the separation bearable. "I don't want to be away from them for more than three or four days and this is a pretty manageable tour. He does a few dates and then comes home."

Darius Rucker Is 'Blown Away' Opening for Brad Paisley

Originally posted 01/27/2009 12:00PM

Since making a successful transition from pop to country music, Darius Rucker has played small venues around the country. But after seeing Brad Paisley's show in front of 12,000 fans last year, he just had to join in on the fun.

"I saw him play in Charleston (S.C.), and I was really blown away by him," Rucker, 42, told CMT.com. "Actually, on the way home from that show, I called my management and said, 'I don't care what it costs me. I want to go out with Brad for a little while.' "

It helped that Rucker was already pals with the other opening act on the Paisley Party Tour, Dierks Bentley, 34, whom he calls "incredible."

Just hours after Sunday's birth of his daughter Evalyn Day, Dierks Bentley joined Tim McGraw and other country stars for a charity ride he organized on behalf of Nashville's Vanderbilt Children's Hospital – where the baby was born.

"I've got a natural high going," the new dad, still unshaven and weary from the previous night's event but ready to jump on his Harley and roll, told PEOPLE exclusively.

Of fatherhood, Bentley, 33, said: "I've done a lot of crazy stuff in my life, but this is the wildest thing. It seems like I've opened the door to a whole 'nother universe. It's like there's another dimension I never knew existed!"

Country star Dierks Bentley is a proud new dad, PEOPLE has learned exclusively.

Bentley, 32, and wife Cassidy, 33, welcomed their first child, Evalyn Day Bentley, just before midnight on Saturday at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, where the Bentleys live. A midwife was in attendance.

The new arrival weighed 7 lbs., 10 oz., and the happy parents say they'll call her "Evie."

The baby was named for her maternal grandmother Evalyn, while the middle name was chosen because "we just liked the word 'Day' – it's a hopeful word," says the new dad.

Dierks Bentley and wife Cassidy are expecting their first child this fall, the country star reveals on his fan Web site.

"Cass's eggo is preggo!" he writes on the premium section of his site. "We are excited about adding onto the family, but we aren't too sure how the current kids, Jake and George, are going to feel about it."

Jake and George are the couple's dogs.

Bentley, 33, and Cassidy, 32, eloped in 2006 in a little chapel in Mexico, where Bentley is now on vacation. "Mexico has always been a special place for us," writes Bentley.

He says the couple have "gone back and forth" on whether to find out the baby's gender. "At this point, we are keeping it a surprise until it happens this fall," he writes.
