In times of great distress, it's common for societies to place blame for all their troubles on a group of outsiders. It happened to all sorts of different people through history: members of different ethnicities, followers of minority religions and even those who happen to speak a different language.
Now, it's happening to celebrities.
A new study from coupon website CouponCodesPro.com reveals that Americans are overwhelmingly sick of hearing buzzwords like "YOLO," "selfie" and "twerking," and they know exactly who to blame: famous people.
When asked where they most frequently encountered their aural bugaboos, study respondents were not hesitant to point their fingers towards brunch spots in Beverly Hills, the Lower East Side and Aspen; a whopping 57 percent said they blamed popular musicians and other celebrities for infecting their ear canals with such nonsense.
