Elisabeth Hasselbeck on The View: 'I've Done My Time'

Originally posted 02/19/2015 02:35PM

[BRIGHTCOVE "4069860713001" "" "" "auto"] Elisabeth Hasselbeck admittedly hasn't been keeping up with the ongoing drama at The View, and for good reason: She never plans to return.

On Tuesday's upcoming episode of the Rachael Ray Show, Ray brings up the "revolving table" at Hasselbeck's former gig and asks, "Would you ever go sit in the seat for, you know, a few days?"

"No. I've done my time. I did my time, I was outta there," says Hasselbeck, 37, of her 2013 move to Fox News.

After a divisive exit from the show seven years ago, Rosie O'Donnell is returning to The View on Feb. 7.

The controversial comedian has made headlines over the years, adopting children, ending relationships and enduring what she has described as a post-traumatic stress disorder, the Associated Press reported in announcing her return.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck is excited about joining the team at Fox & Friends on Monday.

"We can't wait to have nothing but a good time," she says in a new promo that features the mom of three goofing around with her cohosts, Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade.

Hasselbeck, 36, a conservative who spent 10 years sparring with her liberal cohosts on The View before leaving in July, is replacing Gretchen Carlson on the daytime talk show and is excited to be joining the like-minded Fox network.

One bubbly, perky – and outspoken – blonde is about to be replaced by another.

Less than a week after the departure of Elisabeth Hasselbeck from the syndicated daytime talkfest The View comes confirmation that Jenny McCarthy will succeed her when the show returns for its 17th season Sept. 9.

"YUP, I'M DOING 'THE VIEW'!" McCarthy trumpeted on her blog Monday. "When word got out that Joy [Behar] was leaving 'The View,' I knew that the timing of my desire and her departure might be serendipitous for me."

"Jenny brings us intelligence as well as warmth and humor," the show's original host and co-executive producer Barbara Walters said in a statement released by ABC Monday morning.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck Will Be Tough to Replace on The View, Says PEOPLE's TV Critic

When I heard the announcement Tuesday night that Elisabeth Hasselbeck was leaving ABC's The View for Fox & Friends, my mind flashed to the image of Lili Taylor at the end of the ridiculous ghost movie The Haunting, being carried into the afterlife by a fleet of child spirits.

What I mean is that, after years of being tormented by the liberal spirits in Barbara Walters's mansion, Hasselbeck probably feels she has died and gone to heaven.

As The View's sole conservative voice, Hasselbeck was the ready target of jokes and parodies in the media (most notably by Kristen Wiig on Saturday Night Live). But her problem was never really political.

After spending a decade on The View, Elisabeth Hasselbeck marked her final appearance on the ABC daytime talk show with an emotional goodbye.

On Wednesday, Hasselbeck, 36, walked arm-in-arm with Barbara Walters before taking a seat at the table for what would be her last time.

"The past 10 years have been nothing short of extraordinary," Hasselbeck said after thanking the show’s producer Bill Geddie and co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar – who announced earlier this year that she'll be exiting the show – Sherri Shepherd and Walters.

"I did some math last night, and I think I’ve have had over 3,000 days working by your side," she told Walters. "I can’t ask for a better leader or mentor. You are the best that there is."
