On the next episode of the E! soap, Queen Helena (Elizabeth Hurley) and her daughter (Alexandra Park) throw competing runway shows during London Fashion Week. (Yet another confirmation of our theory that this show is, at its core, an amazing mashup of The O.C. and Gossip Girl.)
In an exclusive clip shared with PEOPLE, Helena and Eleanor butt heads over who gets to wear purple – the most regal color on the wheel – at the big event.

Poor Little Rich Girl? Check. Poor Outsider Suddenly Thrown into a World of Excess? Double check.
The Royals is everything that's been missing from your life since Gossip Girl and The O.C. ended their respective runs. While there have been worthy contenders to the throne since then (90210, The Carrie Diaries) none have been able to capture that same charm – until now.
Funnily enough, E!'s first original scripted series was actually created by Mark Schwahn, of One Tree Hill fame. While The Royals bears little resemblance (if any) to OTH, you can rest assured that one of the keepers of our mid-2000s hearts and minds has our backs in this new venture.

When Elizabeth Hurley began creating her character for E!'s new primetime soap The Royals, the actress spotted a few unexpected inspirations.
To play Britain's Queen Helena, "I didn't use the Queen of England because we're from different generations," Hurley told PEOPLE on Monday night at the show's premiere in New York City.
"But I'd like to think Princess Diana could look and dress – had she ever become Queen of England – like Queen Helena because she looked very modern, very fresh."
Hurley said she also drew from Disney villain "Cruella de Vil and a lot of other people ... to make my part three-dimensional."

[YOUTUBE "k0A5m24jO-0"] God save the queen – from her mother.
In a new teaser trailer for E!'s first scripted series, The Royals, we get our first live-action look at Joan Collins playing Elizabeth Hurley's mother.
Being the queen does not, it seems, save you from a mother's criticism: "I see you've decorated," the Grand Duchess of Oxford tells her daughter. "I'd love to know whatever possessed you to choose 'Vegas' as your theme."

All hail Joan Collins.
The Dynasty actress has closed a deal to guest-star on E!'s first scripted series, The Royals, an hour-long drama about a fictional British royal family set in modern-day London.
In her role, Collins, 81, will play the Grand Duchess of Oxford, otherwise known as the mother of Queen Helena (Elizabeth Hurley).

Elizabeth Hurley's engagement to Shane Warne has brought with it an added benefit: an instant brood.
"I've added three more children [to my life]," Hurley, already mom to son Damian, told PEOPLE at Monday's Breast Cancer Research Foundation's Hot Pink Party in New York City. "And I'm learning to be a stepmother to three extra children, so that keeps me running around and on my toes."
Hurley, who revealed in October she was engaged to the Aussie cricket star, adds that fans should hold off tossing any rice.
"We haven't actually managed to arrange a wedding yet," she says. "But it's definitely in the pipeline."

Elizabeth Hurley and Shane Warne's whirlwind romance has gone Down Under – literally!
The newly engaged couple, who announced their intent to marry over Twitter in October, enjoyed rides, games – and some very public PDA! – during a visit to the Movie World theme park on the Gold Coast in Australia.
Joined by his three young children, Brooke, Summer and Jackson, and Hurley's son, Damian (dad is film producer Stephen Bing), the casually-clad crowd did everything as a family unit – save for one heart-racing activity.
"Rides too scary for me-I had to bury my head in my 9 year old's shoulder," Hurley Tweeted, before congratulating her cricket-playing fiancé on braving Lethal Weapon and Super-Man-themed roller coasters.
