Sarah Jessica Parker & More Power Lunch in N.Y.C.

Originally posted 11/14/2012 06:00AM

The phrase "ladies who lunch" got turbocharged on Monday when Cosmopolitan's editor-in-chief Joanna Coles assembled a posse of powerful women – including Sarah Jessica Parker, Rose McGowan, Diane von Furstenberg, Jennifer Westfeldt and Gayle King – for a mid-day meal at Michael's in New York.

Dressed in a leather jacket and pleated skirt, Parker was taken aback by the buzz in the room, which also included several newly elected Congresswomen.

"There are a few women [here] that I've known for a number of years and I'm a great admirer of," she told PEOPLE. "If they're powerful, that's just a byproduct. But I don't think of them that way. I just think of them as great women that I'm fortunate to know."

Westfeldt – who wrote and directed 2011's Friends with Kids – confessed that she power lunches "almost never."

"I'm a meal skipper, bagel on-the-run person," she said.

But as any power luncher knows, food is hardly the point.

As King put it, "I walk around this room and I feel good about being a girl."

Honest Abe was a hit!

Oprah Winfrey and Gayle King attended Time magazine's screening of Lincoln and Q&A in New York City on Thursday.

Winfrey and King weren't the only celebrities at the event – Bill O'Reilly also came out to see Daniel Day-Lewis in the biopic.

"Oprah stayed through the entire film and Q&A with Daniel Day-Lewis and director Steven Spielberg," an onlooker tells PEOPLE. "She ran out after calling for Steven and rushed up the escalator to chat with the director!" (Spielberg gave WInfrey her very first big break, in The Color Purple.)

"Just saw Daniel Day-Lewis performance as LINCOLN .. PHENOMENAL!! Must, Must MUST see!" the OWN network powerhouse Tweeted Thursday.

There's no such thing as a low-key lunch for Oprah Winfrey.

The mogul, her BFF Gayle King and four staffers from O magazine popped into fine dining spot District Commons in Washington, D.C., on Thursday, where they didn't go unnoticed.

Approached by other guests, Winfrey didn't seem to mind the attention.

"She was so easygoing," an onlooker tells PEOPLE. "She stopped to talk to people and took photos [with fans] right outside of the bathroom."

Mariah Carey may have scored a hit with "Touch My Body," but the singer's mindset when she was pregnant with twins was more like, Don't Look at Me.

At her peak pregnancy weight, Carey, 42, was so disgusted with her physique that she refused to let even husband Nick Cannon see her unless she covered up first, she said Tuesday.

"I had a towel on in the tub," Carey, who gave birth in April, says. "I’m not lying, I promise you! You think I would let Nick see me looking rancid like that?"

The rumors have been around for years. She even made light about them recently. But Oprah Winfrey has once again stated flatly: "I'm not a lesbian."

"I'm not even kind of a lesbian," the talk-show queen, 56, tells Barbara Walters in an upcoming interview on ABC. The rumors have focused on Winfrey's friend Gayle King. But Winfrey says that relationship is extremely close in a whole different way.
