In the 17 months since George Strait walked onto the stage at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, to kick off the first leg of his two-year The Cowboy Rides Away tour the country icon has played 45 SRO arenas and stadiums in 31 states, singing his remarkable catalog of hits for well over 1 million fans.
His star-studded roster of opening acts has included Eric Church, Jason Aldean, Miranda Lambert, Martina McBride, Merle Haggard, Little Big Town, Sheryl Crow, Vince Gill, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Lee Ann Womack and Chris Young. Strait has also – with the Military Warriors Support Foundation – handed the keys to a new house to four Marine veterans, one National Guard veteran, and 21 Army veterans.
On Saturday, the beloved Texas cowboy will close the tour in the home of the Dallas Cowboys – AT&T Stadium, where he played the venue's first show five years ago.
"At sound check, there was still construction going on," he remembered with a laugh at a press conference there last year with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. "It was the only time I've ever had to wear a hard hat during sound check!"

The CMAs in Nashville had viewers seeing stars, but unlike in years past, there wasn't one specific standout.
All the regulars – Taylor Swift, Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, Kelly Clarkson, Keith Urban and hosts Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley – were in town for country's biggest night, but some of the genre's heaviest hitters walked away uncharacteristically empty-handed.
Meanwhile, duo Florida Georgia Line, one of the newer acts over the last few years, walked away with two awards: single of the year for "Cruise" and vocal duo of the year.

Wednesday is country music's biggest night as the industry's top stars step onto the red carpet and the Nashville stage for the 47th annual CMA Awards.
Up for the show's top honor as entertainer of the year are three male stars, one country icon and one female singer with a penchant for roping her own personal dramas into the lyrics of her songs.
But who will take home the big prize? Take our poll below!
Jason Aldean has had a tough year with a divorce in the works and a recent tour bus accident that killed a man, but the Georgia native's career continues red hot with his latest record, "Night Train."
