Rob Lowe took a thoughtful approach to playing one of our nation's most beloved public figures, John F. Kennedy.
"I think for known figures, the key is inhabitation, not imitation," Lowe says of his transformation into the 35th President for National Geographic Channel's Killing Kennedy, based on Bill O'Reilly and Martin Dugard's book.
It airs Nov. 10 – 12 days before the 50th anniversary of the JFK assassination.
Lowe had studied the Kennedys for some time, well before he was asked to play the role.

The first photo from Killing Kennedy requires a double take.
Rob Lowe, 49 – who portrays John F. Kennedy in National Geographic Channel's film adaptation of Bill O'Reilly and Martin Dugard's book, Killing Kennedy: The End of Camelot – looks like the real deal as the iconic president who was assassinated in 1963 at age 46.
The film, set for a small-screen release in November, also stars Ginnifer Goodwin as First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy, and Michelle Trachtenberg as Lee Harvey Oswald's wife, Marina Oswald.

Poor Cinderella may not have a stocking to hang by the chimney with care, but she does have that choice bit of Florida real estate: her own castle smack in the middle of Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom.
This season, she isn't the only Disney princess with a stronghold to call home. Ariel from The Little Mermaid and Belle from Beauty and the Beast now boast their own splashy attractions in the recently launched New Fantasyland, which more than doubles the original 10 acres of the most popular section of the most popular park in the world's most popular resort. (Yes, expect crowds.)
"To all those who are young, and young at heart," Once Upon a Time star Ginnifer Goodwin – joined by Jordin Sparks, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts chairman Thomas Staggs and Mickey Mouse – said at the Dec. 6 dedication ceremony. The actress also said, "The castles here are far more beautiful than they are on Once Upon a Time – with no trolls or giants to worry about."

It's up to writers whether Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas's characters get their happy ending on Once Upon a Time, but their costar wants them to end up together forever in real life.
"I hope [they get married], I really do," Lana Parrilla tells PEOPLE, of the pair, whose relationship was confirmed in April. "I think they make the perfect couple."
Goodwin, 34, and Dallas, 30, star as a modern-day Snow White and Prince Charming in ABC's series, but when they aren't filming scenes, they haven't brought romance to the workplace.

Snow White and Prince Charming in Las Vegas?
Smitten Once Upon a Time costars Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas recently headed to Aria Resort & Casino, where they dined at the hotel's restaurant Sage and then took in a late showing of Viva Elvis by Cirque du Soleil.
Double-dating with another couple, Goodwin and Dallas sipped champagne and water during the performance, according to an onlooker.
"They were holding hands and were really sweet," the insider says. "They hurried to get seated before the part where the artists interact with the audience."
Judging from her Instagram, Goodwin had an enjoyable time. The actress posted goofy photos with her pals, including one of her leaning in to peck an Elvis statue on the cheek.
Goodwin wrote, "#whathappensinvegasstaysoninstagram."
