At 55, Gloria Estefan is right where she wants to be.
"This is the time in my life when I'm doing everything I want to do, when I want to do it. It's 'me' time," the singer tells AARP magazine.
And that includes spending time with her husband Emilio, who is still making her swoon after 35 years of marriage.
"Oh my gosh, Emilio – he's a dreamer who makes things a reality," she says.

Don't get Carried away!
After winning best country album at the 40th Annual American Music Awards on Sunday, Carrie Underwood and husband Mike Fisher celebrated at Koi Los Angeles.
"They looked happier than ever. Carrie seemed overjoyed and excited throughout the evening and every time her husband made a toast," an onlooker tells PEOPLE. "Her demeanor made it obvious to everyone – even those who didn't catch the show – that she had taken home an important award."
Underwood and Fisher weren't the only two enjoying Koi after the AMAs. On the back patio, Gloria Estefan, joined by her husband and several friends snacked on signature sushi rolls and crispy rice.
Still dressed up from the awards, the group "laughed and enjoyed themselves all night," the source adds. – Carlos Greer

Her children are no longer in diapers, but Gloria Estefan is still on baby duty.
The singer and her husband of 34 years, Emilio, keep busy tending to their brood: English bulldogs Isaac, Biggie and Noelle, and Chihuahua Lulu.
"They're my babies," Estefan tells PEOPLE in the latest issue. Because they have such a prized place in her heart, the furry foursome have full run of the Estefans' 15,000-sq.-ft. Miami Beach waterfront estate.

What may have been the best play at Sunday's Miami Dolphins game didn't even happen on the field.
Finding herself locked in a suite at Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla., – and after a locksmith, security and firemen couldn't pry open the door – Gloria Estefan made her own bold move.
The singer, 53, who's a minority owner of the Dolphins, took off her green Yves Saint Laurent pumps and climbed out of her third-level window into the suite next door.
Why the rush? Estefan was slated to introduce Enrique Iglesias during the half-time show – and thanks to her daring escape, the Grammy Award winner ran onto the field just in time.

With basketball big shots Lebron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh teaming up in Miami, fans can expect the games to pack a lot of heat. But it's not just the players that are bringing the sizzle.
Like the Los Angeles Lakers games on the West coast, Miami Heat games are star-studded events, known to bring out celebs like Kim Kardashian, Celine Dion and Beyoncé Knowles to courtside seats.
Plan on attending a Heat game? You may be sitting on the sidelines with J.Lo and Marc Anthony, who own a waterfront condo in Miami. Floridian Jimmy Buffett never misses a game – or a move – and he often gets floor seats, which makes him just as fanatical as Jack Nicholson at a Lakers game.
