Guy Ritchie to Direct Robert Downey Jr. as Sherlock Holmes

Fresh from this summer's success in Iron Man, Robert Downey Jr. is in final talks to star as the great English detective in Sherlock Holmes – to be directed by Guy Ritchie, whose been making headlines himself lately, concerning the status of his marriage to Madonna.
The Warner Bros. release, due to start shooting this fall, will show Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's hero in a less stuffy vein than in his previous incarnations, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Not that Downey will be the only versatile actor to don Holmes's stalking cap and coat cape.
Columbia Pictures recently announced that Judd Apatow would produce a comic take on Holmes, to star Borat's Sacha Baron Cohen as the super sleuth, and Will Ferrell as his sidekick, Dr. Watson.

Madonna: I'm Not Planning on Getting a Divorce

Madonna has released an exclusive statement to PEOPLE, denying that she is divorcing Guy Ritchie or having an affair with Yankee star Alex Rodriguez.
In it, she says: "My husband and I are not planning on getting a divorce. I know Alex Rodriguez through Guy Oseary, who manages both of us. I brought my kids to a Yankee game. I am not romantically involved in any way with Alex Rodriguez. I have nothing to do with the state of his marriage or what spiritual path he may choose to study.”
Alex Rodriguez’s wife Cynthia blamed the rumored affair for the demise of her marriage to the slugger, sources say.

Madonna & Guy Pray Together in N.Y.C.

Amid swirling rumors of infidelity and divorce, Madonna and Guy Ritchie took their children to Kabbalah services in New York City on Saturday, July 5. Also in attendance? Guy Oseary, who manages the careers of Madonna and Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez, to whom she has been linked.
Madonna arrived at the Kabbalah Centre in Midtown Manhattan with wet hair and sporting large studded sunglasses to shield her face. During the service, the singer sat apart from her husband and on the women's side of the aisle—which is the custom in Kabbalah worship.

Madonna & Guy Enjoy Dinner – Together! – in N.Y.C.

Diners at New York City's 'Cesca, an Italian eatery on the Upper West Side, got a surprise Tuesday night when Madonna and husband Guy Ritchie walked in, holding hands.
They looked "like a normal couple that just wanted to have a nice dinner out," says an onlooker. "They looked very unassuming. Not like they were looking for attention."
Seasoned New Yorkers are quite accustomed to spotting celebrities at the restaurant (and Madonna does have an apartment in the neighborhood). Still, seeing the queen of pop and her director husband together in public is a rare occurrence – and a meaningful one.

Guy Ritchie Lands in New York

Guy Ritchie arrived in New York from London Monday evening amid reports of trouble in his marriage to Madonna, who is in the Big Apple rehearsing for an upcoming tour.
Around 6:30 p.m. the director, who was accompanied by two bodyguards, entered the Upper West Side building where he and Madonna own an apartment.
Rumors that their seven-year marriage is in trouble have been circulating for some time. Adding fuel to the talk, Ritchie, 39, and Madonna, 49, spent the weekend apart – she with their three children in New York, and him in London. Neither of them wore wedding bands.

With no wedding ring on her finger and no husband in sight, Madonna and her three children – and Carlos Leon, 11-year-old daughter Lourdes's biological dad – visited Manhattan's Kabbalah Centre Friday night for Sabbath services and returned again on Saturday.
So where was Guy Ritchie, rumored to be splitting with Madonna? Although the British Sun tabloid had an unnamed source saying he was going to fly to New York in an effort to save his marriage, Ritchie was seen Saturday in London, also attending a Kabbalah meeting.
He was then seen meeting up with Trudie Styler (Sting's wife) back at his London home, and they drove off together.

She may be almost 50, but Madonna has no problem baring all – when it comes to interviews, at least.
For May's U.K. issue of Elle, the still-sexy singer – whose eleventh studio album, Hard Candy, is out this month – chats candidly about her kids, her sex life and her tempestuous marriage to Guy Ritchie.
Madonna and the 39-year-old filmmaker have been dogged by rumors of marital strife, culminating last month, when the singer's rep was forced to release a statement saying, "Mr. and Mrs. Guy Ritchie remain happily married."

Madonna and Guy Ritchie are not headed for splitsville, according to the singer's rep.
"I am delighted to confirm that Mr. and Mrs. Guy Ritchie remain happily married," Liz Rosenberg said in a statement Monday, countering rampant speculation about trouble in the couple's marriage.
Earlier Monday, a British news service published a story quoting an unnamed source as saying "Madonna and Guy Ritchie are over." Multiple reports also speculated that the couple, who have been working on separate projects, were planning to split up.

While working the red carpet at the Cinema Society special screening of his film Revolver in NYC Sunday night, the director said he's the "disciplinarian" to kids Lourdes, 11, Rocco, 7, and David, 2. The pop star, he added, is too much of a "softie." But later, when chatting with PEOPLE – this time under the watchful gaze of his wife – the director admitted, "That was a stretch of the truth." Madonna added: "He's my disciplinarian."
