Harrison Ford Waxes His Chest – for a Good Cause

Harrison Ford is pulling yet another hairy stunt.
No, it's not part of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (which on Sunday premiered in Cannes). This particular painful maneuver comes in a public service announcement for Conservation International.
To drive home a point about deforestation, the 65-year-old actor agreed to have his chest waxed – on camera!

Harrison Ford Raves about Shia LaBeouf
Originally posted 05/19/2008 04:00PM
Harrison Ford may be the movie veteran, but he knows his costar Shia LaBeouf is hot on his heels.
"He has an enormous talent," Ford said of the younger actor at a press event for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull in Cannes on Saturday. "He had some very archaic skills to acquire and he worked really hard. He will be around for a long, long time."
LaBeouf, who stars as Ford's sidekick in the fourth installment of the Indiana Jones saga, said he was understandably nervous during the first few weeks of filming. "It's terrifying and exciting," he said. "Even if you're welcome the scope is daunting and you have to get past that Harrison is Harrison – that's very scary."

REVIEW: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
Originally posted 05/18/2008 02:20PM
The magic is still there, only you have to work a little harder to make yourself believe this time.
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, the fourth chapter in the saga of the whip-wielding archaeologist-adventurer, is full of thrills, spills, chills and plenty of amusingly lame jokes. While the flick is easy to like, it never quite knocks you silly with delight the way 1981's Raiders of the Lost Ark did.
Acknowledging that time has passed and its hero has aged, the movie is set in 1957 – 19 years after the last Jones film ended – at the height of the Cold War and the McCarthy era. Jones, we're told, spent World War II working for the O.S.S. (the precursor to the C.I.A.) and earned himself a chestful of medals. The plot, as complex as ever, involves Russians as bad guys and sets Jones (Harrison Ford) on the trail of an ancient crystal skull that's linked to a legend about Spanish conquistadors, hidden treasure, and supernatural powers.

Harrison Ford: Calista Best Mother in the World
Originally posted 04/08/2008 02:50PM
After nearly 20 years, Harrison Ford is returning to the role of Indiana Jones. But at home, he's reprising a part he played earlier in his 65 years: father.
Being a parent again, the leading man tells Reader's Digest for its May issue, has "made me just a bit less self-centered."
The actor's companion since 2002, Calista Flockhart, 43, adopted the youngster in Ford's life, son Liam, in 2001.
"She's brought a child back into my home," Ford says of Flockhart. "My youngest, other than Liam, is 17. It's a wonderful opportunity to be part of a child's growing up, which is always an endless springtime. You see the blossoming and the growing and the nurturing and the payoff."

Movie Fans Eager to See Heath Ledger and Indy
Originally posted 03/31/2008 11:45AM
The fans may be prepared to line up this summer to see Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull – but when it comes to what actor rates No.1 in terms of curiosity value, the crown goes to the late Heath Ledger, for his turn as the Joker in the upcoming The Dark Knight.
Not that Indy's alter ego, Harrison Ford, should sweat about his potential box-office. Besides starring in the movie that most moviegoers want to see this summer, the veteran actor, 65, also ranks as all-time favorite action-movie star, according to a survey conducted over the past two weeks by the Fandango movie tickets and theaters Web site.

Report: Indiana Jones to Bow at Cannes Film Festival
Originally posted 02/29/2008 12:55PM
Harrison Ford had better send his tux from the Oscars to the cleaners. The star of the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull – the first Indy adventure in 19 years – is going to the Cannes Film Festival.
Despite initial rumors that the movie would open this year's annual rite of spring in the South of France – to run from May 14-25 – the movie, which also stars Shia LaBeouf and original Raiders of the Lost Ark costar Karen Allen, is due to be screened out-of-competition in Cannes, as a special festival centerpiece, on May 18, reports Variety.
The movie opens in the rest of the world on May 22.
So far, no comment confirming the booking has come from Paramount Pictures or filmmakers George Lucas or Steven Spielberg, reports Britain's Guardian newspaper.

Cate Blanchett Looks Fierce as Indiana Jones's Foe
Originally posted 01/02/2008 01:45PM
Everybody's favorite explorer is back, some 19 years after his last adventure – this time in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
"There's something about the character that I guess is a good fit for me," leading man Harrison Ford, 65, tells Vanity Fair for its February issue, "because the minute I put the costume on, I recognize the tone that we need, and I feel confident and clear about the character."
Also around as Indy again cracks the whip: Karen Allen (returning for the first time since 1981's Raiders of the Lost Ark, in her original role as Marion Ravenwood); Shia LaBeouf (in a role that's been hinted to be the love child of Indy and Marion); and, shown here, Cate Blanchett, who plays a Russian dominatrix named Agent Spalko and whom the magazine likens to James Bond's old bayonet-shoe wearing nemesis Rosa Klebb, in From Russia, With Love.
Watch your back, Indy.

Harrison Ford Bars Hunting on Ranch
Originally posted 10/25/2004 09:00AM
BANNED: Harrison Ford is just saying no to hunting on his Wyoming ranch, the Associated Press reports. Officials for the Wyoming Game and Fish Department are attempting to thin out the herd of more than 5,000 elk that populate the state, but Ford doesn't want any of them hunted on his property. Game officials want to keep the population down because they are worried too many elk may spread disease when mixing with cattle. But it won't happen at the actor's ranch. "(Ford) told me that if I caught anyone (hunting) to turn them in," his ranch manager told AP.

Brand New Ford
Originally posted 06/12/2003 11:35AM
Small gray paws scratch against the door, hopeful yips giving way to a low whine. Harrison Ford, sipping coffee at his dining room table, doesn't budge. "That's Webster," says Ford, barefoot in blue Wranglers after an early-morning tennis game. "We tolerate each other. Calista rescued him from a Dumpster when he was a pup. He's 15 and deaf as a post." Behind the room's other door, another little guy – Calista Flockhart's 2 1/2-year-old son, Liam – excitedly proclaims from the kitchen, "Haaarrisson! Haaarrisson! Haaarrisson is working! Haaarrisson!" Ford doesn't blink. These days he's used to the din that fills his five-bedroom New England-style farmhouse in the Los Angeles hills. He's used to the dog bowls in the laundry room. The baby monitor on the washing machine. The gigantic stuffed yellow duck propped beside his redbrick patio. And, for better or worse, he's particularly used to one thing. "I'm good at changing diapers," says Ford, a father of four and grandfather of two. "No sense letting that experience go to waste." Besides, it's all for a very good reason. A few days later, Ford says softly: "I'm in love."
